Club Med, Cancun

This February (2005), my husband and I wasted our hard earned money to vacation at Club Med Cancun! I am an avid traveler, having traveled around the world and I have never encountered such a dumpy place as I did at Club Med Cancun! The hostels and campgrounds I have stayed in have been better than Club Med Cancun! Atmosphere: During our stay at Club Med Cancun I felt like I was staying in France, not Mexico. There was nothing there, but the bad burrito meals, to support the Mexican culture! Everyone working at Club Med spoke French,played French music and addressed people in French. When I travel to a country I want to experience the culture of that country! Rooms: They were awful. First of all, this was our honeymoon and we specifically booked a queen or king sized bed. When we arrived, our host that brought us to our room said, "don't be mad about the beds." Beds? Yes, there were two twin beds! He told us to push them together to make one bed. Of course there was a 3 inch crack between them! The smell of the room was hideous! It was moldy, musty, and damp smelling. I felt as if I was sleeping in the old basement! There was mold growing on the walls, the ceilings, and the bathroom! There was also exposed wire hanging from the ceiling with a light dangling from them. The Staff: Unfriendly, snobby, and did not try to go out of their way to help us with our room situation. All the staff cared about was their next drink and party. The mentality was one of, "if your not happy with your stay, just have another drink". We never ended up moving out of the discusting room and had to stay for our entire honeymoon in that dump! The Food: AWFUL! They had only one resturnant and then the main dining hall. I have had better food at the dining hall in college and that is not saying much! The resturant (La Palapa) was basically a place where they took the leftovers from the discusting dining hall buffet, reheated it, and actually served it to you. The only difference in the resturant and the buffet was the fact that you are served at La Palapa. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! This place is a dump! We have since contacted Club Med about our problems and they have tried to "buy us off" by sending us a $480.00 credit for our next visit to club med. This is rediculous! We do not want to go to club med again!

This is a French run hotel in Cancun which, to my limited knowledge, is a prominent U.S. vacation city. I can not emphasize enough how absolutely terrible the service was. I would never go back to Club Med in any city and I am never going to use my travel agent again for reccomending it.

My husband (then boyfriend) went to Cancun in October 2003. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Club Med. The staff is mostly friendly and participated in nightly shows. They also opened up the nightclub after the show and played a variety of music, including Techno, which is my husband's favorite and is hard to find elsewhere. We liked that they had the all-inclusive option so that we didn't have to worry about meals or drinks as we had fun through out the village. The one major downside of our trip was that they had suspended the water skiing. However, we have since heard that it is back.

I loved Club Med. The staff is incredible in everyway. The only downfall is the food. I'm just not crazy about buffets. I went when I was 19, but the resort had all ages, and I partied with all of those ages. The nightlife is great @ both clubs on property. Also, the activities that are included in the price are great ranging from snorkeling to trapeze, and much more. Club Med is isolated from the city, but it is well worth it for the beautiful sprawling scenery. Anyways, you can catch the bus to go clubbing downtown. I cannot describe how great this place is. You have to go and see yourself.

Club Med Cancun has the best location of any property in the hotel zone. The grounds are very large and the beach/snorkeling combination are the best of any property in the Cancun itself. I think the food was good, if not spectacular. The best part of the food was the variety. Everyone in our large group could find something decent at every meal, which was no small feat. We had a group of 16, with lots of kids and some older folks and everyone had a great time. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would strongly recommend this resort for a family group.

I had a blast on this trip, although the room itself was just ok. The accommodations are a bit on the small side, with a strange piece of "art" taking up even more space in the room. You are most likely going for the sites and sounds of Cancun though. The food was fabulous and the excursions a lot of fun. I recommend going to Chichen Itza. You also have the opportunity for some fun snorkeling on site, as well as scuba lessons.

Location is the best, world class beach, great food, easy going yet plenty to do. Sailing in the afternoon before a nap was perfect! Can't wait to go back.

we loved club med we first went to club med in cancun last year in april won the trip thru a radio station and there was 48 listerners who went and the djs we had a blast we loved it so much my husband and i came back this year in feburary and i tell you its so relaxing it will do yuor heart and your mind good the gos as they call them will go out of there way to make you happy and they did the pool is great they have water arobics and you can get your exercise in at the same time the food was incredible its all inclusive and thats the only way to go.

Club Med Cancun is a sports and beach lovers paradise. Located at the tip of Cancun, the resort is surrounded by the ocean on three sides, offering unparallelled views. Waterskiing, snorkeling, trapese and other sports activities are available free of charge (including lessons). The evening entertainment was diverse and enjoyable. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations. I actually lost weight on vacation because of the sports activities and because the fish and fresh cooked veggies tasted so great that I rarely had room for desert! I definately recommend checking out the markets downtown. Buses are easy to catch and there are great values to be found. If you prefer a guided approach, shopping tours and trips to tourist sites are available for an additional charge. I enjoyed the guided tours of Mayan ruins.

I had the time of my life at Club Med Cancun! Everybody was so friendly and the view was amazing! Great snorkeling spot too! I can't wait to go back!
