Used during a student trip
By ,
The staff was considerate and helpful and were very gracious, considering our group consisted of 30 high school students on a ski/snowboard vacation in february. the only drawback was that breakfasts and dinners were not at the hotel. it didn't seem that they were set up for student groups there. the hotel on the top floor was lovely, but not tailored for our group. however, i'm hoping to go back and try it out on my own!

We would stay there again!
By ,
I give them 5 stars on everything except: even though our vacation was prepaid, the put a hold on my visa of $220+ on each day that we were there, at one point they had a hold of about $1200 on my account and even I talked to front desk and they agreed with me, noone could explain why it was there. I checked out on 7/30 and it took until 8/4 for the holds to go away. Also at the restaurant at the top, "the view is magnificent and their service is outstanding but their food is not very good. we ordered the chataubriand (forgive spelling) and it was stringy and tough, we had it twice" other than that, by all means, I don't think you could stay t a better place.

Best View!
By ,
Love the Loews. Always clean and attractive. Loews is convenient to everything in Quebec City. It's proximity to the beautiful Fields of Abraham is an extra benefit and the view is second to none.

Our annual trip
By ,
The first time we stayed at this hotel was in 1997. We have returned every year since then. The staff is friendly and responsive. The service is wonderful. The location is an easy walk to anywhere in the city. Our room is always comfortable and the restaurants are great. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Quebec City. The Loews is by far the best!

Great place to stay!
By ,
Bilingual staff; very, very friendly people. Just try any basic French and they are all yours! Everyone on staff will help with the French language, if you desire. Prompt response to any request. Excellent restaurants,(breakfast and dinner) both at the revolving roof top, L'Astral, and the first floor lounge restaurant, Galerie Tapas. Recently remodeled, the rooms are exquisite, and have a coffee maker and robes to die for! The beds are very comfortable and clean. The bedding is high end as are the curtains and drapes. Luxury fabrics. Nice bathroom. Ours had a single sink -- I'm used to a double sink. Again, beautiful decor. Ample towels, more can be requested and they'll arrive within minutes with a cheerful "bonjour!" The entire hotel is extremely tastefully decorated. The hotel overlooks old city Quebec, the St. Lawrence River, the Citadel, the Plains of Abraham. We were on a high floor. Every room has an impressive view. No need for a car: dining, boutiques, historic and old city sight seeing are all within easy walking distance. We didn't use the pool or the exercise rooms so I can't comment on those.

Great Rooms at the top of the Hotel
By ,
My famly and I visited the hotel in June 2007, if you would like a great stay, please ask for a room at the top of the hotel. All rooms are remodeled. I stayed on the lower level and the rooms looked like I had just stepped out of the 1980's. The hotel staff was okay.

Very comfortable.
By ,
While I agree with another review that said they need more elevators, ice machines, and shampoo bottle replacements, on the whole we really liked the hotel. The beds were the most comfortable I ever slept in, other than my own. No morning backaches. The restaurant (L'Astral) on the top floor revolves and gives you utterly magnificent views. If you like Manhattens, try one there. You will love it. We ordered a three course meal that was abolutley impeccable. Our waiter was helpful, friendly and was not stuffy at all. One night the view was snowy, misty and moody. The other night was clear with sparling lights as far as the eye can see. One more plus, the hotel is very close to a very nice fine arts museum. Be sure to visit.

Terrible hotel in an romantic place
By ,
We just returned from a less than stellar stay at the Loews. I think even from the first day it was just a comedy of errors that kept us counting down until we departed Quebec. First off, this hotel is about 30 years OUT OF DATE, and the service team should take some classes in "how to treat customers right, especially when they pay a good price for service". The Loews could use about 4-5 seperate SERVICE ELEVATORS - as they have 4 little elevators that have LONG lines that stretch back to China. If any new luggage arrives, look out....the bell boys will be hogging up your elevator and the line just grows and grows and grows.... They have ONE ice machine in the entire hotel (on the 4th Floor), which also slows down elevator traffic. The gym was also less than stellar, as it was the size of someone's bathroom and was situated right next to their pool. The only good thing about the 4th floor is the FREE JUMBO WATER DISPENSER that you can use to fill out your little water canteens, and not have to pay those awful prices for the junk in your fridge. Use it and use it well and save your money. We can go on, but the highlights of the bad service include: 1. Needing a blanket at around 12 midnight, so we called the front desk, but they wouldn't come up and deliver it. So we had to go down and get it ourselves. Strike ONE for their customer service. 2. We tried to buy ONE stamp to mail a postcard, but the hotel said that we needed to buy a MINIMUM of 6 stamps from them or else!? Nice eh? Strike TWO. 3. We tipped the cleaning lady 2 dollars, but she didn't refill our shampoo and soap, and when we approached her afterwards, she gave us USED shampoo and soap!!!! The bottle was half empty and filthy!!! No joke. Strike THREE!. What's weird is that they cleaning folks like to get a head start on the day, so what happens? Our door opened up at 8AM and in pops the cleaning lady! Just leave the do not disturb sign on your door folks at all times...trust me... Again, we can go on, as there was other forgetful incidents, but this place is just not worth it. Good luck pricelining another place folks...

Excellent!
By ,
A supurb hotel in a stunning city. Excellent service, well appointed rooms with comfortable beds. Only complaint is the cost of using the high speed internet. Why can Best Westeren and Travelodge give it away, and Lowes charges over $12 a night? Expecially when a high speed connection is less than $50 a month in your home.
