4 reviews for River Garden Inn, Stratford
Nice place but will never go back.
By Ashley, 11/18/09
My family and I stayed at the River Garden Inn for a wedding. The room was clean, had a great set up, lots of space to move around, very comfortable bed and great lighting. The only problems we had were cob webs and also poor costumer service. My two siblings and I staying in one room. As we were packing up the vehicle to leave, someone from inside the hotel came up to us. They did not give any introduction, and started to accuse us of damaging the ice machine room; we had done no such thing. Apparently they had an eye witness of us doing the damage. We were disgusted as to how they approached the situation, they were extremely rude. They thought we were lying and continuously threatened us by saying they will be charging us a ridiculous amount of money for the damages. We obviously defended ourselves multiple times on how we did not damage anything. They did not believe us until another person from the hotel came forward; they had witnessed the whole thing and said it was not us. They could have approached the situation in a better way, but they decided to do it with such disrespect. Therefore my family and I will never be going back to this hotel, nor will we ever recommend someone to stay there.

Hostile Staff
By Mel, 10/06/09
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding that was held in one of the hotel's reception rooms. A very foul odor from a sewage problem in one of the bathrooms was very present, and it took quite a bit to convince the manager that it was not the smell of "nearby agriculture". At 10am the next morning I was greeted by 3 women outside my door. I was immediately treated with sarcasm and hostility and was accused of ruckus behaviour and vandalism. When I informed them that they were mistaken I was told that there were witnesses who saw me.I have NEVER been so insulted. The women were so thrilled with themselves at threatening and intimidating a 23 year old woman. I let the wind out of their sails when i informed them they could speak to my parents, who stayed in the room with me all night. They rudely demanded my parents names and were quite snarky when telling me they would "Check to make sure that's true." Did they check? No. Did I get an apology? No. Instead, they immediately went next door and accused my brother's long-term girlfriend of the exact same thing. Unfortunately for her, she was alone. I could at least take myself out of the situation and let the women (one of which was the day manager) speak to my parents. They threatened to sue my brother's girlfriend for over a thousand dollars for an ice machine, as well as payment for a room that left the night before due to a noise complaint. No one investigated the claim of noise, and no one went to check if they were being loud. Thankfully my uncle got involved in the situation, as we were all flabbergasted at the rude and threatening behaviour of these women. The women's hostility and rudeness made the entire situation worse and unbearable. It was completely disrespectful and unacceptable.

Hostility and Rudeness
By Mel, 10/05/09
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding that was held in one of the hotel's reception room. The service at the reception and staff were wonderful. However, a very foul odor, supposedly from a sewage problem in one of the bathrooms put a damper on the evening. My problem occurred in the morning. At 10am I answered a knock on my room door to see three smirking women. I was immediately treated with sarcasm and hostility as I was accused of being loud the night before and something about the ice machine (I'm still not sure what went on). When I informed them they must be mistaken, I was told that "No, we have witnesses who saw you." I have NEVER been so insulted. The women were so thrilled with themselves at threatening and intimidating a 23 year old. I was quite pleased to let the wind out of their sails when I informed them they could speak to my parents, who stayed in the room with me all night. They rudely demanded my parents names and were quite snarky when telling me they would "Check to make sure that's true." Did they check? No. Did they apologize? No. Instead, they immediately went next door and accused my brother's girlfriend of the exact same thing. Unfortunately for her, she was alone. I could at least step out of the situation and let my parents talk to the women, one of which was supposedly the daytime manager. They threatened to sue my brother's girlfriend for over a thousand dollars for the ice machine, as well as payment for a room where the renters had left early due to noise. No one investigated the claim of noise, no one went up to check if there was noise. Thankfully my uncle got involved in the situation, as we were all left flabbergasted. The women's hostility and rudeness made the entire situation worse and unbearable. I would attend this hotel for an event, but NEVER stay there again.

Good Location to the Theater's
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/05
I was reviewing what others thought of the Victorian Inn. I just stayed there and liked that it was 1. Clean 2. Convenient 3. Had Knoweledgeable and friendly staff. 4. Had childrens toys in their restaurant Sawyers and in the back of the hotel. They cater to families and the Inn is within a 5 minute walk to the Festive Theater.
