Great hotel with fantastic service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/05
We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas break. The staff was very couteous and helpful. We asked for a view of downtown and got a corner room with a view of downtown Toronto and Lake Ontario. Our son likes to write letters and was disappointed that the room only had "small" paper. In the lobby, he mentioned this to one of the staff and 5 minutes later she showed up at the door with "big" paper and envelopes. Now that's service. The location is excellent -- just a few minutes walk to Union Station where you can take subways and streetcars to any part of the city. For our sons, taking the trains was the highlight of the trip.

Will NOT Return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/04
The hotel is at the fringe of downtown that is a 15 to 30 minute walk to the area where all the good restaurants and attractions are. It is separated from the downtown core by an ugly, 8-lane elevated expressway plus parking lots and condo construction sites. After dark it feels unsafe to walk underneath the expressway. Our room was not clean - there were stains on the table, as well as hairs and stains in the bathroom. Water pressure was grossly inadequate. At dinner the steak I got was the size of a postage stamp. At check-out, we received extremely rude and insulting treatment from an employee who identified himself as a "manager". My complaint letter to the hotel has gone unanswered. Good points: I did meet a very pleasant front desk employee on check-in. Washrooms near the ballrooms are clean and the number of stalls are adequate. If you decide to eat at the hotel instead of one of the many fabulous restaurants on King Street, the green mushroom soup is good. For a more convenient location I'd recommend the Delta Chelsea, the Marriott and the Holiday Inn. If you're looking for something more affordable I'd recommend the Comfort Hotel on Charles Street - no facilities to speak of, but at least the rooms were renovated and very clean.

Lovely views on the bay
By Mitch, 9/9/04
This hotel, located on the bay, has lovely views and affords opportunities for nice walks. It's a little far from the main city center, though, and not the most convenient choice for someone who needs to do business in the city.

The Westin Harbour Castle: A \"Heavenly\" Stay in Toronto
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/25/04
We stayed at the Westin Harbour Castle August 21, 2004. I highly recommend trying to get a reservation for this hotel via Hotwire.com. I tried Hotwire after reading various reviews on this hotel by people who mentioned that they were able to reserve a room for $77/night through Hotwire. The hotel is located right on the Harbour front, conveniently across the street from the Union subway stop. Our room was very nice with a beautiful lakeside view, the beds were indeed "heavenly" as described by the hotel. My only complaint was that the bag of coffee located by the in-room coffee maker was NOT complimentary as it is in just about every hotel that I've stayed in, I found this to be deceiving. The Westin charged $2.00 if you used the coffee, I would not have been very happy about this had I paid the regular hotel rate of $169+/night, you'd think they could offer guests a cup of coffee. Other then that I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay & would recommend the Westin Harbour Castle to anyone visiting Toronto.
