Great Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/06
We stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel for three nights. We booked a King room online for about 150 US Dollars. The room was very clean and had a lot of space. The location is great. It's one block from the subway and within walking distance of The Blue Man Group. It's also one of the stops for the Gray Line Double Decker sight-seeing bus. We saw two wedding parties during our stay. The concierge was extremely helpful. I would recommend using the subway system and the sight-seeing bus if you are visiting. The subway offers an all day pass for two people at $8.50. We learned this after we spent quite a bit riding around on Day One. We had dinner at 360 on top of the CN Tower. It was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. One thing we noticed was Toronto is very expensive all around - food, entertainment, transportation. Also, the deli directly across the street is very expensive and terrible. Do not think you will get a quick bite to eat...There is an Irish pub up the street (North one block on Bay Street) where the staff was friendly, but again it's expensive.

Nothing Special
By Tanya Y-H, 8/15/06
PROS: Close to Wellesley subway stop Nice terrace off of pool Small, 24 hr grocery 1/2 block from hotel Concierges were very helpful Health club was exceptionally clean! CONS: Room was sparse, with mis-matched furniture. The location of the hotel isn't particulary close to anything. It's not in Yorkville, not quite in the kitchy, gay district, not very near to any pubs or nightlife. All in all, I would say it's a decent hotel, but better could be had for the money. I have no real complaints, but that's not to say I was particularly impressed with the place. The next time I go to Toronto, I probably won't stay here. I'd most likely spend the extra money and stay in another four star closer to Bloor.

Very disappointed...
By LL, 9/16/05
We booked a "superior" room for 4 nights. When we arrived, the hotel clerk gave us a smoking room although we booked a non-smoking room (albeit non-guaranteed though). Unfortunately, the clerk didn't tell us this before sending us up to the room, where we immediately found out (by the stench of the smoke...) We then tried calling the front desk - unfortunately, the phone was out! So we had to trudge down back to the front desk, asking if we could be put into a non-smoking room. The clerk told us that they didn't have any non-smoking rooms available - it was hard to believe since the hotel seemed a bit empty. Her solution was to give put a loud air purifier in our room. Then we went up to our room and found out there wasn't a room safe, even though there was supposed to be one. The clerk noted the error and told us that they would bring up a safe (but they never did during our entire stay). The next day, the clerk offered to switch us to a non-smoking room, but required us to pack up all our stuff and leave our luggage with them in the morning... it was not acceptable to us. The concierge service wasn't very helpful either - one evening at app. 11 PM, I called the concierge asking him to book us a reservation at the 360 Restaurant for lunch the next day. Unfortunately, no one was there so I left a voicemail for him asking him to make the reservation by 9 AM the next day. I called back at 10 AM the next day wondering why I didn't receive an update. They told me that they knew nothing of my voicemail! And the "coin-operated" laundry for hotel guests (this is a feature listed in Expedia) is a fallacy - I had to beg the clerk to use the laundromat. She told me the laundromat is ONLY for long-term guests and building residents - can you say false advertising. In terms of the room itself, it was fairly big - but the items were not up to standards - as another reviewer mentioned, the linens were old. The bathroom was very small. The sink counterspace was extremely lacking. The shower water pressure was very low, too. All in all, I certainly would not recommend this hotel - avoid it if you can.

they try the least hard
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/04
They just don't care. There is no intention of giving you your money's worth. We were put at the 3rd floor. When we asked for a higher the answer was "we are booked solid". The truth: the hotel was half empty. When we entered the room, the towels were wet, the remote didn't work properly, the bathroom paper was at its final inch. We complained and received a cold "I'll send someone". The garage was too low for our rental car. We were told only at the check-out that parking wasn't included. Again, it's usual, but all the time from the check-in to the check-out, never an extra mile, not even an extra yard and always the cold "I'm sorry" and that's it.
