No airconditioning. Too much Noise.
First off, we loved the location of the Strathcona... right next to the Sticky Wicket Pub, just two blocks from the water front, within quick walking distance of many great resturants.
...however, we were in Victoria on their two hottest days, and to our dismay, we found that there was no airconditioning in our Premium room. With the second best room type in the hotel, we had assumed that we could have room that could be cooled. Our room never went below 80 degrees, we couldn't even open the window more than two inches... it made it very hard to sleep.
Not that the Strathcona has control over its guests, but very late in the night, people would storm through the halls, crashing into things and yelling loudly. Had the walls had more girth to them or we had an airconditioner to drown out the noise, this wouldn't have been a problem.
I would probablt stay here again, but not during the summer, they were a good price and were very nice.
