Great Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/08
We stayed at the Royal Scot in September, 2008 and absolutely loved it. We found the front desk staff very helpful and the breakfast staff a delight. The rooms were very clean and the hotel was very quiet, although it was obvious that they were busy. The location is ideal as it is very close to the inner harbour and all the downtown area. We would highly recommend the Royal Scot and we will definitely stay there next time we are in Victoria.

Absolutely The Best Kept Secret in Victoria!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/08
The Royal Scot Suite Hotel is not the fanciest I have ever stayed in, but it is the Absolute Best Hotel I have ever stayed in. From the moment I checked in, all my needs were met, including some I didn't even know I had! Due to a medical condition, I had called ahead with special requirements for the cleaning of my room. All of them were met, and in addition, they placed a special bacterial air cleaner in the room. The room was billed as a studio, but it really was a fully fitted out one bedroom apartment. The kitchen had an eating area for two, with good quality appliances and absolutely everything one would need to cook a meal and clean up afterward. The furnishings were tasteful, in excellent condition, and very, very comfortable. I was ready to move in!. While the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, a fan in both the bedroom and the living-room,, plus windows that open, made the room very pleasant even in the 80 degree plus temperature. They even placed fans in the halls! The staff were so kind and helpful (I use a walker and a motorized cart). A shuttle van is provided to the guests free of charge. One just asks for a ride and a handsome laddie in a kilt happily takes you to where you want to go (within a certain number of miles--there is a limit, even there!). Just call for pick-up when you are ready to return. We only needed to use the shuttle a couple of times since the Royal Scot is a short two blocks from the Parliament Buildings, the Inner Harbor, and the landmark Empress Hotel (I've stayed there before but the Royal Scot has them beat, for sure). There is a gift shop with a little mini-grocery area off the lobby. There is also a lounge with coffee and tea available (although there is also coffee and tea fixings provided in the room). We didn't have an opportunity to try to the restaurant, but there is one on site that serves all three meals. There is also a pool we didn't get to try. Next time I am going to book for at least a week. This hotel is reasonably priced for the area and is certainly worth the money with the availability of the kitchen. Great for a family! They even gave us bottled water when we checked out! We had such a good trip and the Royal Scot was a huge part of our wonderful vacation. Enjoy your stay!

A really nice place
By Danielle, 11/22/07
We really liked this place because it was affordable, just steps away from the inner harbour and all of downtowns attractions, but yet very quite. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would definatly stay here again.

Great location
By EllenW, 7/22/07
This is a great value and location. The staff was young, but competent. One experience where we had to wait for a shuttle for 45 minutes due to lack of communication, but overall I would recommend this hotel. Be aware that there is no air conditioning.

Great value
By JohnM, 3/27/07
I loved how much space we got for our money and the excellent location. This hotel was formerly an apartment complex so our room was essentially a one bedroom apartment with a huge balcony. The kitchen even had enough utensils to do some limited amount of cooking, something you seldom seem to get with rooms with kitchens. While it doesn't have harbor views it is only one street away, right behind the Hotel Grand Pacific.

Good Price Good Service
For a moderate price, great location, and good service, I would highly recomend the Royal Scot. I arrived late in Vicotoria on a Friday night and was picked up by the Royal Scot shuttle bus (by a staff member in a kilt nonetheless) at a local bus stop (about a 10 minute walk to the hotel). Throughout my entire stay, the staff were very friendly and accomodating, offering good advice on nearby restaurants and attractions all of which proved to be very accurate. Although my room was small, it was clean and very comfortable. I had a problem with a broken leg on the bed in my room, which was immediately attended to by the staff. The Royal Scot is located about 5 minutes walking to the downtown area of Victoria and the waterfront. Shuttle buses run regularly from the hotel to and from town. The staff were repeatedly very friendly and helpful. Overall, my experience at the Royal Scot was very good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a moderate priced yet high quality experience.
