Sorry folks, pass this one by!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/11
Reserved rooms a month ahead. Arrived @10:30 pm and had to wait an hour for the last of four rooms to be ready. Plumbing pipes made loud noises all night as did base board heaters. Small rooms likely had two double beds sixty years ago. Far too tight for two queens. Phones did not work. We were assured that the property was 3stars(maybe in 1949) Carpets were filthy and hall carpets were worn and tattered. If you are travelling on a shoe-string budget then maybe this property will meet your needs(maybe not). Not a very safe part of the city of Edmonton. HOJO needs to yank their sign. I was mostly upset with the reservation clerk's assurance that the property was a 3 star hotel.

we did not stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/09
we got to the hotel with higher expectations for a Howard Johnson. It is in a terrible location with pawn shops, liquor stores and gambling. The elevator was slow and a bit scary, the room was small and dark and the renovations seems spread out and disorganized. The people prior to us were asking about a pool or hot tub but non were available - I personally would not have used them even if they were available once I saw the rest of the hotel. Ho Jo - watch what you are putting your name on!!

Get what you pay for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/09
The price isn't bad, but they are pricer than then use to be and the value for your money isn't there. Rooms are okay, clean but the hallways are disquesting in how dirty there are. Be prepared! They have been doing reno's so it could be better.

Not that Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/09
We stayed in Howard Johnson for two nights. And we made a reservation through trip advisor where we ended up paying more than the hotel price. First of all the front desk could not find my reservation because trip advisor put wrong address there and phone number. The front desk lady who was native american by nationality pretty rude and arrogant. She was very unfriendly. But the front desk manager was very helpful. Room was not ready till 4 P.M. That was ok because we did not need the room right away. Room was very clean. But the ceiling paint in the washroom was peeling off. Other than that everything was fine.

Will Defintely stay everytime we go to edmonton
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/21/07
Staff were Excellent, Very Clean Hotel. New Furniture. I used to stay here before and it has changed so much since the last time I was here I almost had to check I was in the right hotel. Last time I was here was about 1,1/2 years ago. I dont know what changed but i used to stay here for the rate, Now I stay here for the Service, Cleanliness Close to the mall and the Value (not cheap like before but still great value for what you get) It is tough for the hotel to change the neighbourhood but it actually looks like it is getting better. The hotel is excellent pace to stay.

great value for the price
This hotel is in a great location.Five minutes from the West Edmonton mall,a bus transit stop 30 seconds away. The hotel was very clean, friendly staff and totally worth the price. It's not a five star hotel but hey,for $56 bucks it's pretty five star to me.Great for business travellers and family vacationers.I would definetly go back there it's a great stay for the price, did i mention the price.

Its worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/06
Its a great place to stay for its value. Okay the area of town its in stinks, but they have security that patrols the hotel and parking lot (nice young guy). The staff in general go above and beyound to help you and your family enjoy your stay (trust me I know). Seriously its not the fantasy land hotel, but they do there best and it shows. if it was all that bad, there is no way in hell I would let my children stay there with me.

Not the best area
By Liz, 7/13/04
My son stayed here last year with his 10 year old daughter. He said the room itself was perfectly fine. What he didn't like was the ground floor full of VLT machines; a liquor store across the street and pawn shops. I guess he said "pawn" and not "porn"!!!!

Bad location for a family stay that's all.
