Home Away From Home Cabin

We just returned from a week long trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park. We spent 2 nights at Signal Mountain Lodge staying in their "Home Away from Home" cabin. It is a stand alone log cabin with lovely rustic furnishings and a beautiful gas fireplace. It had a complete kitchen and laundry room, with full size appliances (refrigerator with ice maker, range, dishwasher, microwave, washer & dryer) and lots of storage area. It had a feel of walking back in time. I could imagine the origins of this wonderful place back in the 1920's when it was a fishing retreat for east coast gentlemen.
The views are spectacular. The staff kind. We also enjoyed the ammenities of the lodge, including internet. There are books to borrow, games to play, and the only tv set within miles.
The restaurants are excellent. The boat rental area easy to use. The gift shop had many unique, area specific items, including history and nature books.
Best of all is the view. It simply can't be beat. You can reach out and touch both the lake and the towering mountains. We also had the privilege of being visited by 2 different moose on different days. They are amazing creatures.
I would recommend this place highly. It is not upscale and trendy. It is a family destination, centrally located within the Park, with the warmth of home built right in. The grocery/convenience store is quite limited. There is a more full service grocery store at Colter Bay that I recommend taking a drive to if you need to buy more extensive food items.
