White Gull Inn, Fish Creek

Went to the Fish boil. Price performance was poor. Boiled salty tastless fish loaded with bones, potatoes, odd tasting coleslaw, small piece of cherry pie and a dab of icecream. The only beverage included with the meal was water. Kids have a choice of something different probably because of all the bones. All for around $19/person. We thought the actual boiling of the food was going to be pretty dramatic but it was noting at all. The guy boiling the fish gives a little talk about the history of the boil, white fish and some other stuff that you can probably read in the internet. Very, Very overrated pricey (for what you get) experience. We did the fish boil because it seemed like it's a Door County thing to do. Don't get sucked in go get yourself a nice meal somewhere else.

The White Gull Inn captures everything you want in a Door County hotel. It has charm to spare, a fish boil and is in the best city of Door County. It is walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the water. The staff is on par of a five star hotel, very friendly and helpful. Our room had all the modern updates but still felt like you stepped back in time. I can not see a family of four staying here, but for couples this is a must stay. AND the breakfast included with your stay is one you will talk about for years. They have this french toast stuffed with Door County cherries you simply must try!!

Hoped to celebrate an important anniversary, but were told we had to move to another room after we had settled in that day. So we had to lug our things to an entirely different building in the middle of the day; the new room had old soap from previous owners but no fresh and had not otherwise been cleaned. The hotel was noisy, staff and waitresses rude, and we were told the next morning that they had decided to close the restaurant for the next two days -- although we had scheduled the first room and restaurant option before arriving. It was the worst vacation we've had, and needless to say, our anniversary was ruined.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon, and everything was perfect. The desk staff were very helpful, the food was fantastic, and the suite was everything we could have hoped for. There were very nice touches like a lending library for movies, books, and CDs, in-room VCR and sterio, and morning tea service. We forgot our bathing suits when we left, and they mailed them to us. This Inn truely goes above and beyond all expectations.
