Not worth it; overprised; Go to Alderbrook Inn; Remodled and less expensive

We just got home from a 3 night stay at the lake side cottages on Patterson lake. The room was ok but when the shower head broke, maintenance applied duct tape to try and resolve the problem. The daily cleaning was hardly that. I think they changed the sheets but that's questionable. The carpet was somewhat dirty from kids playing in the sand and water but was never vacuumed while we were there. The biggest complaint is about the service. I have to agree with other reviews that the service is awful. An example would be when we and other families were in the swimming pool and were asked to be quiet and not make noise while a wedding was going on. That's ok, I understand that to a degree but then they were offering the kids candy to be quieter in the pool...who offers little kids (5-10 years old) candy to remain calm while in a pool for the duration of a wedding? obviously someone without kids. The topper was when the waitress (sarah) told us that the "wedding couple had paid a lot of money to have their wedding there so we better respect that"....and we didn't? I think 450.00 a night deserves some respect. Other families mentioned that they felt the same way. Why not close the pool during the wedding and avoid the problem all together? On the good side was the horse riding that the kids went on. The people at the stables were great and very helpful. The gal (Karen) who maintained the little shop at the cottages was also really nice and helpful. I'm guessing their so happy because they don't have to work with people at the lodge itself. We won't be going back to the Sun Mountain Lodge and judging from the latest reviews, we won't be the only one's.

This lodge/resort is just a few minutes off Hwy 20 in Winthrop, Washington. Located up the hill in a very romantic, quiet setting, they have an extensive lodge. The restaurant and bar located at the main lodge was very luxurious with formal dining yet they accommodate guests with young children like us. We were there in late August, 2006 and we dined out at the veranda overlooking one of the most beautiful vistas in the State of Washington. The food was great and the staff at the restaurant was very friendly and entertaining. What we spent at the restaurant was well worth it. The overall indoor architecture was also luxurious. The rooms are very well-furnished and make you feel like royalty: very clean, no odors in the rooms, bathrooms, or hallways. The lodge have several activity rooms. Guest can pick and choose to use the room with multiple pool tables or soccer tables, and another oversize library with huge fireplace. They have such an extensive landscape at this large acreage of land. They have this NO HUNTING sign in the property so guests can easily come across wildlife. We saw several grouse strutting around the property. The only aspect of the place that we marked down is the nightly room rate which at the high end. But with all the splendor the place has to offer it is well worth the price. We highly recommend this lodge to all ages.

This is a wonderful get away! We ate out on the deck while watching deer munch on grass under us! The food was excellent and I really would like to visit again.

very friendly and welcoming staff. clean and cozy guestrooms, breathtaking views! Did not make us feel uncomfortable at all by bringing our children with us. Great dining also.
