Thin walls plus bar noise equalls no sleep

I spent two nights at Captain Whidbeys while attending a writers conference on the island. The rooms are small (their web site calls them hobbit sized), and I only had one tiny window, which made me regret spending extra on the view room. The walls are paper thin you can hear everything going on next door, in the hall, and down stairs. I could hear people talking, laughing, opening their luggage, snoring, and even breathing. My room was directly above the bar and restaurant, and the sounds of people drinking, talking, laughing, and music kept me up into the wee hours of the morning. I went to the desk and complained around midnight, and they said their was nothing they could do about it. I dont expect to pay that much money for a place where I cannot even sleep. The next morning, when I checked out, I complained again and they offered me a ten percent discount. The loud noise and shared bathrooms made it feel like staying in college dorm (a way overpriced and run-down college dorm).
I know many people in Seattle that swear by Captain Whidbey, I dont get what their talking about.
