Paper Thin Walls and good Sushi
By ,
There was a group of teenage kids in the hotel the night I stayed there. The room was very nice and comfortable, but the noise level from room to room and hallway to room was pitiful. I had earplugs and used them. Otherwise the place is very nice. I am rating Service, Cleanliness and Location very high, but this building deficiency is a major drawback that would be very difficult to remedy.

Nothing like the Advertisement
By ,
Upon first entering the room it smelled really horrible. The bed had hair on the sheets and the pillow. The floor has stains, and there was a mattress in the dumpster with huge blood stains on it that we could see from our room window. This is not a very good hotel when it comes to being clean, and feeling safe. I would not stay here again, this was my first time staying in a hilton hotel and people please do not waste your money because the advertisement is false.

Not at all what I thought a Hilton would be!!
By ,
I called and made my reservations and reserved a certain room and also gave the name of my group and was suppose to get free internet. I didn't get the room that I reserved. When I checked in, I paid CASH and was charged an additional $100 for "incidentials". I went to my room that was in the "Retreat" and it was not clean!!! In the bathroom, there was hair (public and private) on the floor, and also on the toilet. I went to make some coffee and the coffee maker was dirty. There was a used coffee filter in the machine and the cups were obviously dirty with lipstick and coffee stains on them. When I tried to use the internet, I discovered that I didn't have "free" internet. I was charged $9.95 per day. When I went and spoke with the front desk, the man was rather rude and snubbish to me. I asked him about the internet and he stated that he couldn't do anything about it. So, I paid for the internet. When I went to check out, I was told that they would "MAIL ME A CHECK WITHIN A WEEK FOR MY INCIDENTIALS". I called to check on it after 1 1/2 weeks and was put on hold for 7 minutes the first time before the "manager" told me that his accounting person was gone for the day and that he would check on it and call me back the next day. I did not get a call from him at all that day. I called and again spoke with the "manager" and was put on hold for another 8 minutes before he got back on the phone and informed me that my check will go out in the mail tomorrow. I am very disappointed with this hotel. I will never stay at this Hilton again because of the problems and the way I was treated. I paid full price for my room and was still treated like I was not a guest of value. I will not/would not recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends that are traveling to Alexandria.

Great place near Washington, DC
By ,
perfect for weekend to explore DC area, free shutle runs every 30min to Metro and airport. Rooms are clean, modern and huge! with minifrige, coffeemaker, flat screen TV. So is the bathroom with your own hottub! Bring bubbles, candels, salt, aroma, nice to soak in after running aroud town on all tours! People at the desk will help you with anything - just ask!

Parking
By ,
Don't fall for the $9 charge for parking if your room is in "The Retreat" adjacent to the tower. The lot is unsupervised and not secure and anyone can park there. There are no permits and no entry ticket machine.

Pay full price...or forget it.
By ,
The floor and room felt damp. Even the sheets felt damp. The tub didn't drain. I reported it to housekeeping. It was never fixed, but I did receive a free movie coupon. Not exactly what it looks like on the website if you book through pricelilne or a website that offers reduced rates. You will end up in the attached "Retreat Center", on the lowest level. It is a completely separate building. The room smelled. I have to wash all of my unused clothing, etc,. Everything smells like the nasty hotel. The beds were uncomfortable. Overall it was a very bad experience.

Expensive
By ,
We thought it was expensive. We really liked our maid, Mai-she was personable and thoughtful. The shuttle drivers drove super fast as if they were posessed. Our hotel had a smell that was overwhelming.

Won't stay here again!
By ,
My family was first-time guests of this hotel for a 1-week conference. We made our reservations in July 2007 and requested a room on one of the top floors for DC view - didn't get it - they said they forgot!?!? Upon arriving in our room, we had no coffeemaker or items to make coffee; bathroom did not have towel sets for everyone in the party; bathroom floor had paper garbage on it; lamp shade on the bed nightstand was broken, and switch was faulty (did not always work) The first night, upon walking from our beds to the bathroom, we stepped on carpet tacks sticking up on the bathroom threshhold. We reported it for 2 consecutive days for repair - nothing done. The day before we left (day 5 of our visit!), we spoke with front desk personnel about lack of service - amazing that someone appeared about 15 minutes later to repair the tacks. A little late. On day 3, housekeeping did not leave any coffee items for making morning coffee; we had to again request these. Our first dinner at Finn & Porter restaurant was our last meal there - dried meat entrees, a pasta dish for my daughter that was covered in nothing but excessive butter and Parmesan cheese - actually was nauseating. After the waitress delivered our main course, she did not return to our table until almost 20 minutes later - never inquired as to how our food was. We also heard from other conference attendees that the were immensely disappointed in the quality of food at the restaurant. On our last evening, we had to utilize the iron for our attire. The iron was not working properly - spit out white particles over our clothes, and the ironing board was broken. Summary: a beautiful physical structure is not a substitute for quality or attentive service. We won't stay here again.

Great gym
I'm a frequent traveller and finding a good gym is hard to come by. The Hilton Alexandria Mark Center has a newly renovated gym with plenty of equipment and space! As a preferred member I was upgraded to a VERY nice room with great views of the city. It was also nice to be recognized as a repeat customer.
