Inhospitable and Predatory

Inhospitable and predatory--that describes my experience with this motel. Callling from the road, I requested a two night stay, arriving late that night. Arriving at midnight, I was met at the locked lobby door by a woman in bare feet and an all-but-empty parking lot. The beds were clean enough, though surrounded by stained carpet, peeling paint and a smelly viscous substance in the microwave. However, the real issue came after I had let my dog out of the car in the morning to give her food and water and a cleaning woman was startled by the dog at the open door. After spending a long day enjoying Williamsburg, I returned to find my key did not work. The Front Desk Clerk imperiously informed me that a $100 additional fee had been added to my bill and that I was not allowed to stay another night. When I tried to explain that the dog had not stayed in the room, he only pointed with a pen to the small print on my check-in slip. I insisted that the dog had not stayed in the room, and he only repeated that the cleaning woman had seen the dog near the door. Eventually, I was allowed to remove my belongings from the room, but I expect that my credit card company will have a claim to battle--especially if I am charged for the second night that I was not allowed to stay ALONG WITH THE FINE that was completely unfounded. If you like cheap, smelly and rude, stay here--but don't bring a pet within 500 yards of the place or it will suddenly become "luxury" priced.
