Holiday Inn and Suites Virginia Beach, Virginia Beach

My family chose this hotel because of its location...on the board walk. Day one: We arrived to find garbage still in the can and a old coffee filter in the maker. Also there was no bath tub for our three year old to take a bath ( and they say they are a kid friendly hotel). Day Two: nice enjoyed the warm indoor lazy river and had a very nice lunch at the blue whale restaurant on location. Day Three: the flight pattern of the navy jets was beginning to wear on us!! Also our son hit is head and cracked it open on their NOT so kid friendly marble side tables. Day four: we decided to try the greenery restaurant on site for breakfast. We started that meal off with the hostess telling us they didnt have a high chair for our son because they only had ONE and it was being used..( and kids eat free????) next the waitress brought us coffee and orange juice in pitchers which she made us pour and then took it away! It was very expensive for a breakfast buffet which the food wasn't good and Luke warm! We decided to end of trip a day early due to the lack of quality for the price..No we will not be staying here EVER AGAIN!!!!

What I liked - the hotel had children's activities from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. My 4 yr grandson really enjoyed them. The staff working with the children were really nice. The closeness to the beach can't be beat. The outdoor pool was really nice and always clean. The lazy river was great at the end of the day after sight seeing. Across the street from the hotel was a trolley that ran from 8:00 a.m. to 2 in the morning. The fare was only $1.00 one way and if staying longer they have passes and it goes along the entire boardwalk. The trolley does go to the Acquarium which saves driving there and goes to 2 grocerery stores and the Lynnhaven Mall. My family took the trolley one way and walked back to the hotel. The rooms were very spacious with area which had a couch, chair, very small table and a small refrig & microwave. It had 2 flat screen tv's too. The hotel also had 4 washers & dryers which were FREE for the guests to use. What I didn't like - I feel it was overpriced. Most hotels that charge what they do offer a free breakfast. My daughter ate in the hotel's cafe and said it was overpriced and the food was awful - a comment that I overheard several guests say too. The hallways were very hot no AC. The elevators were very small and hot again no AC. The elevators were very slow too had to wait to get one. I requested a pack n play for my grandson at 1:00 p.m. & IT FINALLY ARRIVED AT 7:30 that night. It took 3 phone calls to the front desk & me going to the front desk to speak to them about the pack n play 2 times before it was brought to our room. Would I stay there again - NO For what I paid (which was a lot) I don't believe you get your money's worth. Look for another hotel next year.

We just got home from VA Beach. We were very, very pleased with this hotel, and would highly recommend it to others. We stayed on the North side in an oceanfront two room suite for 3 nights. The rooms were very large, which worked out well for a family of 5. The staff was very friendly and accommodative. The pools, lazy river, and waterslides kept the kids very busy. I highly recommend the "Isle of Capri Restaraunt". It was delicious. We loved the hotel so much we ended up staying an extra night in a on the South side as that's all that was available. Just an FYI that the rooms are definietly smaller than on the North side for the same price, but are still very nice. (the layout of the rooms are very different, the north side is side by side and the south side is front to back) On the day of check out the hotel staff let us stay in our room until the other room was ready. This was a huge plus. This is the first time I have written a review but feel the need to let other people know a good hotel when you find one.

We stayed there for the first time in 4-2009 and it was nice since then it has been all redone and we had just stayed there 7-29-8-1-10 and it looks great.Very clean staff very friendly and helpful.The rooms are very nice and clean.The have a movie theater which is great for a rainy day.The have new outdoor pools with waterslides which my son loved also have an indoor lazy river which is great.The one thing I think could be different is the new resturant doesnt have a kids menu for breakfeast which would be nice for kids who dont eat alot.Also the other resturant that has the breakfeast buffet is $25.00 for 2 adults which I think is a bit much not that great for the money and for someone who doesnt eat alot not wroth it,so next day we found somewhere else to eat,other than that the hotel is great and would recommend it to anyone.

This hotel is very clean,and has so many amenities.The staff, you can not beat!!! Its in a pretty good location.It had an indoor lazy river pool which was awsome!! It has two restraunts which were both very good.

rooms dirty, bacony never swept, sliding glass door were rotten. this place is very low class.

I have stayed in Hundreds of hotels and this is the worst by far. First off the front desk personal were friendly but had no clue where my room was he sent me and my family with all of our laggage to the wrong side of the hotel also there were no carts for me to put my belongings on. So we could not find or room for about 3mins or so and then I found a maid to ask and of course she spoke very little english and finally after she didn't understand what I was saying I showed her my room key and said it was on the other side of the hotel by pointing. So I whet draging my stuff back around past the desk again where they did say they were sorry. Second I did fine one cart so we loaded it up and started pushing only to find out it was broken, just my luck. Finally got to my room and it loooked fine untill you tried to sleep. Sleeping here is a joke, very noisy hotel with thin walls and small uncomfotable beds. My wife and me could hardly fit in the bed and we are normal sized people. We had double beds one for my son and one for us. Also the place was very old looking and run down. Loudest elevators I have ever been on and small too. The only thing that was half way decent was the lazy river pool and the view of the ocean. I'm sure Holiday Inn can do a better job with this hotel but it will be along time before I ever stay in one again. Not Happy.

the tub drains so slow you have to wait a while for next person to bath. the room is dirty the patio never gets swept and cig butts are lying around everywhere along with bottle caps. the sleep sofa is all springs and the sheets are to small. you have to beg for a towel or anything you want. forget room service. the maid service as i was told is only as needed. ha, hope you don't need anything. when we made our reservations we were told they had continental breakfast. forget that to. they even look at you at the resturant as if to say "what are you doing here". can't get coffee, not enough cups and when we checked in i had to clean the coffee pot from the last people. if you stay here be sure to bring a broom, bottle of clorox, lysol spray and your coffee. other than that the view and location is great. time to knock this place down and rebuild. iam ashamed of you holiday inn!!!

Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Virginia Beach, VA Horrible experience from the get go...drove 6 hours and my daughter and granddaughter flew in from Florida. When we checked into our room which had a musty smell, no washcloths (requested several times and finally after we were there for 2 days received them). In the meantime, we used baby wipes as washcloths. Upon arrival, we also noticed that the bathtub was dirty (ring around the tub) with sand and an oily substance. The shower curtain was mildewed, the balcony furniture was dirty, and there were several empty beer cans as well on the balcony. One of the electrical outlets did not have a cover and the coffeemaker was broken. We cleaned up and made the best of it because we truly wanted to enjoy our time together as a family. The one thing we could not clean up was the sand fleas all over the bathroom and in the carpet of the bedroom area. There were not just a few sand fleas, but many. So many, that when you put the towel down on the floor and picked it back up, they were peppered with fleas. I was concerned that my baby granddaughter would get bit by them so we kept a watchful eye on her so that she would not get bit or if she did we could quickly administer antibiotic cream. We called the front desk many times and went down several times to suggest that some of the issues we had be resolved. We were told they would take care of the issues, but the only real resolution was on the 3rd day we did get our washcloths. They could not move us into another room because they were booked due to the holiday and we could not locate another hotel in the area that was readily available. The elevator did not work properly the entire time we were there and we ended up carrying my granddaughter up the stairs in her stroller (after waiting 20 minutes one day for the elevator to arrive.) I work hard for my money and I do not want anything for free, so if this helps one family avoid a high priced hotel with inadequate service it will be worth it.

This is by far the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in. The room(very small) was dirty and sheets had not been changed from the last guests stay. Always out of towels...had 4 people in the room only 2 towel most of the stay. When checking out I forgot my son's BRIGHT green lizard pillow case(sitting on the end of the bed) with his only blanket inside the pillow case, that he has had since a baby, called within 30 minutes from the hotel and asked if someone could get it from the room and ship it home to us on my credit card. Had to call back 3 times till I finally got someone that said they found it and would ship it to our house. It's been 1 month yesterday and about 20 phone calls to the hotel and now they say they don't know where it is or if they ever found it, but if they find it they will ship it to me...right! I emailed Holiday Inn corporate customer service saying I'm not looking for any kind of money, just wanted to see if they could see where my sons stuff might have gone. It's been over a week and haven't even gotten a reply saying we recieved your email and are looking into it. I will never give Holiday Inn another dime of my money.
