Deplorable Condition
By Yahoo Contributor, 10/14/08
This facility and surrounding property owned by same individual is in a deplorable state. There continues to be record numbers of complaints on this facility (hotel) alone submitted to Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce. Restaurant and bar now closed. Smoke filled lobby by few remaining staff with "No Smoking" sign posted on front entrance. Rooms so filthy, there is no way to adequately report the numerous problems, including broken furniture, dead flies, stains, dirty linens, to name a few. Owner is now dumping what looks like piles of cat food on back patio to feed reported stray cats and smell of cat urine reeks along back stairway adjacent to pool area. It is reported the area residents are up in arms about the worsening conditions of the mounside property that includes abandoned buildings and now large fuel tanks that were dug up from the defunct gas station sit out back, adding to the war zone. A recent televised news story confirms the contined deteriorating state has drawn the attention of state senator Hanger (Augusta Co.). The property owner continues to dismiss the continued efforts to work with the area residents, city of Waynesboro and Augusta County to come up with a viable solution to improve the conditions at a primary cooridor leading into Shenandoah Valley. Any positive feedback on staying at The Inn at Afton should be considered "suspect.!" The only positive thing to say about The Inn at Afton is its location and the spectacular view.

Great View
By Mona, 2/5/08
The views from this hotel were breathtaking. We were on a mootorcycle trip and "accidently" found this place. We had first floor rooms where we could keep an eye on our bikes and our rooms were facing the pool. We can't wait to go back again.

The rooms are affordable, clean and comfortable and have the best view of any hotel I've stayed in.
