Capitol Plaza Hotel & Conf Ctr, Montpelier

Great location, near the state house (beautiful -- go see it, takes little time), in the heart of 'downtown' Montpelier -- town is very walkable, cool diners, etc. Old movie theater across the street too. Hotel itself looks cool & historic, but room was drab, but decent amenities for the business traveler (plenty of outlets, decent wireless access which is included). Found cleaning to be a bit lax (hallway looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum in awhile). When we checked in no one offered to help with luggage and it's a LONG haul. You have to park in the back and walk along a loooonnggg hall before you reach the lobby. Had I known that, I would have parked on street out front, unloaded and asked them to watch the luggage until I returned from parking. I definitely overpaid -- the hotel was empty while we were there and it didn't occur to me to bargain with them over the phone. The restaurant, J.Morgan's, had very good steaks.
