Felt like visiting royalty
The service was first rate from time of pick up at the airport by the free shuttle until I was delivered back to the airport for departure. The grounds are wonderfully groomed. The lobby was comfortable and beautiful at the same time. The shops had an upscale boutique feel. I never made it to the pool! The breakfast buffet was amazing. I am sorry I did not try it until my last morning there, but my waistline thanks me!
The coffee shop service was adequate and the food filling. Room service was prompt. They made an error with my paper selection and quickly corrected it. I only had breakfast at the hotel, prefering to eat my dinners downtown nearer the Salt Palace.
I did not rent a car while there, the free tram being almost right outside the hotel. It was also a quiet and safe place to walk just as long as you did not stray to far west of the Temple. I did one afternoon and discovered the location of the soup kitchen and homeless shelter. I was approached a few times for a hand out of money, but they quickly moved on.
The rooms were beyond my expectations. The Garden soak tub was a gift after a day of traversing the Salt Palace during a convention. The powder room area outside the bathroom was a nice touch. The beds were very comfortable and the room beautifully decorated. I saw another reviewer say the furniture looked old. It did...like fine cared for antiques. I would love to own the armoire, it was so well designed.
Indulge in the turn down service. It is free of charge, and I came back to a room softly lit and the radio turned to music. Chocolates were on the turned down bed and a robe was draped across the blanket.
If I ever return to Salt Lake City, this is the place I will stay at. There appeared to be other Little America's nationwide and I would consider them as well. The Grand America was just across the street, but I could not ask for more than what I had. This hotel was not one that my convention negotiated for a block of rooms, but I saw some of the rooms at other hotels that fellow convention attendees had. I had the much better deal!
