Business and Pleasure
By Patrick, 6/7/09
During my recent visit to OTC I was fortunate to stay in the St. Regis. The hotel was very, very well appointed and the staff were over the top with assistance and always there when required. Two things, 1. The hotel is a bit difficult to locate unless you knw where to look. I have lived in Houston for many years and found the out of sight location a bit of a blessing and curse. As there is no front entrance parking, the taxis occupy the street entrance and make for both an eyesore and a hazard when entering the hotel. 2. The main restaurant left a lot to be desired. Great location and wonderful place to visit but no character. The restaurant in the bar had to suffice and with due credit, the food was great. Especially the steaks. It is good there are many really outstanding restaurants in this part of Houston as the St. regis restaurant is way down on the list of my preferences. The remainder of the issues regarding the stay were top notch and I would highly recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a proper place to stay in Houston.

Was George Bush on your committee?
By DeniseG, 11/30/08
How in the heck did THIS place make your pathethic list??? PLACES was the title of your article not HOTELS...??? YOU got to be kidding me?? Right? What about Yocemite??? What about the Rockies??? What about more SCENERY than your hotels? There have been very many artists to paint them? Hell, you should have included Vegas on your list! That would have wrapped up this very, very, awful and lame article.. This a ONE of the worst articles on YAHOO that I have ever read....!!

Nice but not worthy of five diamonds
By SWEET CHARLOTTE, 8/21/06
I rented a junior suite at this St Regis property and was quite disappointed. While the staff were friendly and professional, the room had serious problems. The sink at the bar area in the living room did not work, the vents were filled with dust and grime, the decor was a bit outdated and the hotel is situated next to train tracks. On a positive note, the bed was divine and I experienced a wonderful night's rest; however, I do not think that this hotel is worthy of a high rating from AAA. In my opinion, it is a 3 star hotel at best.

spacious rooms, lovely down comforters, exceptional service, the recommendations from the concierge were right on the mark, it was easy to find and convienient to major museums and shopping centers. we felt pampered from start to finish. the spa services were excellent...the message was one of the best I've had yet.

Highly Recommended!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/05
I found the St. Regis as frequent Starwoood member. What a great place....I've stayed in most of higher end hotels in Houston but none can compare with the service with the St. Regis. I even had my own Butler...which promptly pressed my clothes downstairs at no additional charge. Nice bowl of fruit (at no charge) is always a bonus for the business traveler. The service is Top Notch...Don't like the train noise?...then have a couple glasses of wine (provided by the mini-bar)! Going back soon!

Beautiful hotel, nice room. Train tracks immediately next to the hotel. Trains pass by every other hour through the night (yes, 12:15 AM, 2:15 AM, 4:15 AM, etc.) . . . NOT conducive to a quiet night with your significant other, sleep and/or any type of relaxation. Hotel knows about the train problem and is not amenable to reducing your room rate due to inconvenience of same. They actually suggested ear plugs.

My husband and I left the kids with a sitter and headed to the St. Regis for a weekend getaway. We checked in and then listened as every hour a freight train passed below. Yes, there is a train track immediately adjacent to this 5-star hotel. All of the "perks" couldn't make up for the constant blowing of the train whistle from 9:00 PM until 2:00 AM, when we packed up and left. When we arrived at the front desk and complained that we were not informed of the possibility of consistent train noises throughout the night, the hotel not only did not offer an apology, but attempted to charge us for a full night stay after 5 hours.

If you don't mind serious outside noise, this is a fabulous hotel, otherwise, I would stay at the Omni . . .just as nice, NO noise.
