not what id expect from a 4 star luxury hotel...
me, my husband and our 2 small children (5 & 7) went on vacation to dallas. id like to explain that i joined the select guest program they have because its free and they offer some complimentary things that were useful ie free wifi, free morning drinks, and if u are vacationing on a buget then every little extra counts. I called the 1800omni number 2 or 3 times to ask questions to help decide if this was the right hotel for us, the 2 main things i wanted was a room on one of the top floors bc i thought the view of dallas would be an awesome experiance for the kids and a room with a door/balcony. my husband and i are smokers so being able to go outside with out having to go all the way outside the hotel is a plus & im closter phobic being able to open up a small inclosed space helps my anxiety. i was also told this specific hotel played movies pool side for the kids & also gave the kids complimentary bags. we originally made a reservation for a delux room with 2 double sized beds. (if you need 2 beds the doubles are all this hotel has).. sad that the 2/3 star hotels have queens & this luxury hotel doesnt. any whoo.. we get to the hotel and it is gorgous, absolutly stunning huge lobby, it smells great as soon as you walk in, and the canal next to the hotel was the perfect touch. I go to check in. first they put a suprising hold of 150 dollar on my debit card. i asked what floor i was on and he said the 3rd.. i explained that i had asked for a higher floor which was supose to have been noted and he said all they had was somthing on the 7th floor out of all 24 floors.. any whoo no sweat right. i was givin my hotel keys & some door knob things & sent on my way. i asked for the kids bags & the man looked at me as if i was joking. i had to explain i had 2 small kids & was told we would get some bags for the children.. after he made a point to look at the line behind me he finally proceed to get the bags as if to make a point. i then asked about the movies that i was told they played over the pool he looked at me again with disgust on his face & said we dont do that at this location... ok whatever... go to the room & at first glance it looks ok but you notice the wall paper is falling, the remote to the tv wouldnt work, pull out the drawers and they were off the rollers or somthing dang near fallin out, most of the furiture was mitched matched as if they got it garage shoping, look out a big CLOSED off window with the perfect view of the top of a huge roof... by then ihad enough.. just because i got the room at the special price doesnt mean that i should get any less.. i was informed that none of the delux rooms have windows or doors that opened that those are only available with the suites.. i told the lady that is not my fault i made my decision about the choice of hotels by the what i was told on multiple occasions from the Omni people via the 1800 number.. after i argued my case they finally changed our room, givin the only rooms with doors are the suites they upgraded us for no additional charge (that room was much better) the only down fall was they dont offer suites with more than one bed so they brought in 1 cot for my 2 children. The cleaning survice pretty much made OUR bed, emptied trash, and got rid of the dirty towels. i had to call down every day to get towels and wash cloths. you could tell that they changed the sheet on the kids cot but they left the blankets THROWN on the couch. the table tops were still dirty, if i didnt put our empty coke bottles in the trash basket they were not picked up. very displeased in the cleaning. if you have kids be prepared to bring somthing to keep them occupied because the tv only offers maybe 15-20 channels & the cartoon network was the only thing available for the kids & after 6 oclock the "cartoons" get pretty volgure. other than that the stay was nice. i still have the $150 hold along with 2 other unexplained charges on my card i imagine omni will be hearing from me soon
