Quite Poor for a Hotel of in this Price Range
The service at this hotel has been rather poor, something I would expect from an establishment renting rooms for $25 a night or less as opposed to the $45 per night they charge.
For the first week of my stay, the telephone service to the hotel has been interrupted, making it impossible to place outgoing calls. When you attempt to do so, you receive a message that says "This is a special message from Verizon. The service to this telephone number has been temporarily interrupted. You can still reach emergency services by hanging up and dialing 911. Please press "0" to be transferred to our customer service center..." so this, coupled with the fact that when I asked the front desk what the major malfunction was they mentioned something about "faxing phone bills", tells me that they didnt pay their phone bill. Of course, they insist that this is not the case. This situation, whatever the real cause, meant I had to use my cell phone to order dinner, and while not the hotel's fault, the cell service in this area is also horrible.
Another issue with the hotel is the incredibly poor quality of the wireless high speed internet. It constantly drops my connection and the best connection I have ever had here is two bars out of four. They blame this problem on the phone company as well, saying that they use Verizon DSL to connect to the Internet, but this problem was present throughout my entire stay, long after the phones were fixed.
The remote control to the TV failed more often than it worked, I found if slammed it down on the night stand it would give me a couple more days of service.
This hotel suffers from a lack out electrical outlets, I had to purchase an extension cord and 3/way adapter so I had a place to plug in my phone and my laptop. One outlet is located at the sink, another behind the TV (blocked in by the heavy TV stand) and the third is behind the bed, completely inaccessible without tearing the bed apart.
In defense of the property, the rooms are fairly clean (except for the chair, it clearly needs steam cleaned, there is something sticky all over it) and comfortable. The pillows are plush and soft and the A/C works well. There were light bulbs in all the fixtures and they all worked, though one was unplugged when I first arrived.
In summary, I would recommend that one avoid this area as well as this hotel, neither seem to have much going for them.
