Best hotel on the Gulf Coast
By James Tiberius, 06/26/08
This is a great hotel with an incredible pool and spa area, at times even better than the beach, which is right across the street. Beautiful rooms and comfortable beds and furnishings. Great landscaping and greenery. By all means go to the Sunday brunch-it's incredible. Old world elegance and sophistication in Texas (!). Not cheap, but worth every penny and then some-you won't be disappointed.

Loved It And We're Headed Back!
By Barbara, 05/04/08
My husband and I stayed here for the first time last summer (2007) and we absolutely loved it. It's right on Seawall, which means the beach is right across the street. Whether or not you get a view of it from your room, there it is. You might not want to go that far, though, because their pool and hot-tubs are wonderful! I couldn't stay out of them. Yes, the rooms are a bit small but the hotel was bit in 1911 or 1912 when rooms were built that way. We're coming back in June but this time we're going to request anything but the 5th floor. That's the floor that's supposedly haunted, ha ha. And the floor we were on last year! I didn't encounter the grieving Lady but don't want to either. :-) As far as my husband and I are concerned, this is "our hotel" in Galveston. HINT! Try to get it on Priceline. You can get it a lot cheaper.

Too expensive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/08
Way too expensive, but comfortable enough. I was told a lower rate with AAA, but amazingly enough, the desk did not know anything about it.

Thanks to a special Concierge lady
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/07
I wish to thank to Senior Concierge Mrs. Jackie Hasan for she is a very special and unique lady. It was a great pleaasure to meet her. he is such a kind of a person who works for the happiness of the hotel visitors. I guess she is the best.

Great Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/07
I went on vacation with my wife and four children. We were accomidated in every way. The staff was great except we had to wait on a buggy to carry our stuff out to the car. The hotel is haunted, however we did not get to have any interaction with her. The pool was great, however the drinks from the pool bar were not near as good as they were inside. We spent five nights here and would stay again, however we used priceline and got the room for 85 dollars a night. Great timeat a great place. The beds were great also.

Very Elligant! Can't wait to go again!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/07
We were there in early June. We paid $12.00 for valet parking and the shuttle took us to the pier and picked us up for our cruise. The staff was very nice and friendly. We loved the beautiful spacious room and pool. We will definately stay there again!

Grand Lady of the Gulf
By jeff_modesitt, 06/03/07
Old world elegance with New world convenience. This Grand Hotel is the best of the best! Situated on the gulf shore. Sunny, yet cool, friendly, clean, safe, chic. The kind of place you would expect to see celebrities hanging around the pool. Excellent service, friendly staff, comfortable beds, and child-friendly. This hotel goes out of their way to make sure your stay is fun, comfortable and trouble-free.
