La Quinta Inn Austin South / IH35, Austin

Upon arrival from the United Kingdom with my son near midnight, I presented my fully paid hotel voucher, which seemed not to go down well with the desk receptionist who kept playing with the keyboard for over five minutes. I had been assigned my twin room then shown a map on how to find it. Fortunately for me I had a friend who met me at the airport to assist with locating the room. On reaching the room as soon as the door had been opened there was this awful smell (can't describe it) it was just disgusting. My first night had turned into a nightmare as at 4:00am the Sunday morning the driver of a huge lorry decided to start his engine and kept it running until daylight. The following morning the gounds man for the row of businesses located next to the room decided at 6:00am to trim hedges and grass this went on for several hours. The much talked about breakfast was more of a fast. Did not see any pastries for the 9 days I have been there. The eggs were so hard boiled that two more minutes of boiling would of turned them into golf balls. Cereal comprised of 1 box poured into a bottle which disappeared quickly but not refilled fast enough. The bagels tasted like they had been bought at a local supermarket the week before. The amount of rooms advertised and the amount of seats allocated for breakfast is sort of a laugh. Rooms and Cleaning - Well in my case I had to call reception and demand a clean up. The second time I just gave up and did not bother. We escalated from three towels to two which to the end had to last two days on two occassions. The days progressively became hot I visited the reception area to ask for ice and was hastingly shown a map to find an ice machine which had no guidlines on how to work it, sought help from a very limited non-english speaking cleaner. The pool is not as inviting as the picture. Upon my departure I handed my keys in and not once was I told hope you had a pleasant stay or any customer service jargon. Never me again, paid absolutely loads of money for zero rated accomodation and no breakfast.
