Terrific
By ,
I seriously doubt the negative reviews of this place were written by people who stayed there. The Trio restaurant is superb and the rooms are excellent.

Not at all worth it
By ,
This morning I had a nightmare check in and it just kept getting worse. Better make sure the room they promised is really there.....all day it's been a nightmare getting the room they booked for me in the first place.

Terrible Service and unreliable front desk
By ,
Checking in has been a nightmare! The rooms are still no updated, they've build a building in front of the city side view of their hotel so enjoy looking at aluminum siding and parking lots if you don't get the river views....trust me there is no "city view." lol Front desk check in? Save 15-20 minutes while they type on a keyboard like a bad airline check in nightmare. Forget about this place..you can spend your money in much better hotels and have a more intimate environment with good service.

Like Coming Home
I have stayed at this hotel at least 6 times in the past 8 years. I come here for a large conference and usually have my husband and son come up and meet me, and we make a weekend of it. I am planning to go back for a girls' weekend in a couple of weeks, so I was checking out the reviews. I have to say that people who complain about the rooms not being luxurious enough must stay at hotels that have gilded bathtubs and silk sheets. I don't know how you could get much more luxurious than some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, evening turndown service, where they put a napkin on the floor next to your bed, so you don't get into bed with even slightly dusty feet (the carpets are pretty emaculate, so I'm not sure how you would have dusty feet). What makes this hotel so special for me is the incredible feeling that you are actually a GUEST at the hotel. So many hotels treat their guests like cattle or customers, but here, you feel like a special guest, especially when you return many times. Everyone who works here (with a few exceptions over the years) has bent over backward to accommodate our needs and make us feel welcome. The special touches they provide for little children, such as age-appropriate toys, treats, access to a reliable, safe, babysitting service, and just treating my child with respect, are one of the best things. They don't treat the adults too badly either. I have only had about 2 minor complaints about this hotel over my 6 stays (each averaging 4 nights) - one time, the security manager was a bit rude to us when the key to our room didn't work when we were coming back from the pool. He treated us like intruders. That is a very minor complaint because I guess I would want him to treat someone trying to get into a room with a key that didn't work like an intruder, but even after he checked our IDs, he was still a bit surly. The other minor complaint was that occasionally, the pool-side servers were a bit overwhelmed and drink and food orders took way too long. During busy times, the hotel should put on extra staff at the pool to really give the full Four Seasons resort exprience. Other than those times, we have always had the most relaxing, delightful stays at this hotel. When we leave, my young son even says "Mommy, I want to go back to the Four Seasons!" We will keep coming back year after year, as long as we can afford it!

Holiday Inn with Four Season Label
By ,
As a regular at Four Seasons around the world, I usually find Four Seasons Hotels among the best. But the one in Austin, Texas doesn't belong in the chain. It might even have a hard time holding a Holiday Inn affiliation -- it's truly that bad! The HVAC systems don't seem able to keep up with the humidity and on some floors, the stench of mold is so bad that staff will privately admit they regularly have to accomodate room changes to floors that don't smell like a mix between spilled sewage and the stench of water rot. It doesn't seem healthy. And the rooms are very average...nothing to support a room rate above the much more appealing Radisson just two doors down. Other members of our contingent who stayed at the Embassy Suites accross the river got the better end of our lodging deals this weekend. Expect rooms like a Sheraton, common areas that don't inspire, poorly stocked mini-bars and bad scent. If that's your expectation for $350 to $600 rooms in Austin, TX, then this is the place for you!! One positive - a motivated staff doing its best to make up for what must be cheapskate owners. The staff was uniformly attentive and friendly.

Wonderful!!
By ,
This is THE best hotel in Austin. Wonderful service, friendly staff and the rooms are immaculate. My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night and we've come back on our anniversary every year! Whatever you need, the staff responds... be sure to tap into the concierge, Tommy Dean. He's the man who can get anything done in Austin! I sleep like a dream at the Four Seasons in Austin. The pool area is top notch. You either get a wonderful view of the city or a unique look over Austin's Town Lake (be sure to watch the bats fly!). From the hotel, it's just a short walk to everything that Austin has to offer - great food, live music and a brilliant nightlife.

The Best Ever
By ,
I've stayed at many hotels and the Four Seasons right here in Austin is fairly wonderful... why? They spoil you with VIP treatment...no detail is unimportant to them. THe food in the Cafe is over the top...the best lobster I have ever put in my mouth. The gorgeous lawn out back leads down to Town Lake and there is quick access to biking and walking trails! Makes me want to stay in town for my vacations ;-)
