Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/11
I am a Packer fan that travelled to Dallas to see the Super Bowl. Almost everything about my trip was exceptional including the game, the Packer fans and many new friends that were Steelers fans. I left Texas with great memories even though I had cancelled flights and travelled ice covered roads; it was all part of the experience. The only issue that left a bad taste for the City of Arlington was the way that the Howard Johnson tried to rip off the fans that stayed at this hotel. I booked two double beds for four girlfriends with two separate rental cars coming from different cities. I paid almost $1,300 for three nights, management then tried to tack on $ 70 per car for parking, and then threatened to kick my group out because we had four people in the room. The manager was completely unprofessional screaming at me in the lobby and then demanding that we pack our bags and get out of the hotel unless we paid an additional $230 for the two guests. They apparently felt that making money on parking additional Super Bowl fans was more important than taking care of their guests. On the Saturday before Super Bowl you know that there are no additional rooms available in the area so we were left with no choice but to pay the additional $230. The grand total for three nights at the very average hotel was $1,500. If you search the rates for this hotel for two double beds, the rates are the same for two or four guests. And don’t forget to order your microwave in advance and be expecting an additional fee for that service, and if your friends stop by to say “hi” its $50 per wristband. Do not stay at this hotel unless you are completely desperate.

Never again!
By corky, 7/4/09
Booking problems in the beginning in which dates were reset for the day that we booked through hotel-rates.com. H J would not help us with getting the dates changed so we had to pay for an additional day and arrive a day earlier than planned. Upon arrival the pool was green and was still green the day we left. Bed linens were stained and had burn holes in them. The whole experience was very poor and we will not return to this hotel.

great for six flags!
By ec, 9/27/08
I liked how close we were to six flags and the "On the Border" restraunt located next to the hotel. The room had a balcony over looking the pool (which was very nice) and the rooms were renovated. Reading the other reviews, I've noticed that this hotel must of been older but they have put in new sinks and showers. We did have a bug in the bathroom, but our puppy who we brought along with us ate it. This hotel isnt amazing but it worked for what we needed and we enjoyed our two night stay. Also ask for the trolly that will take you to six flags, its free and you dont have to pay for parking! But dont forget to get the trolly pass from the front desk because they wont take you unless you have it.

When we arrived we where told our reservervation was for next week, luckly i had a confermation number with dates so they gave us aroom what a mistake it had no tv in the room at all so they gave us a credit of 10.00, the next day went to the water park got back at 7:00pm no room was cleaned they said we callled them from the water park and said dont clean it, so got the manger involved again they refusded to clean it and asked us to leave the hotel they gave us a refund of some money, watch out for this hotel the trooley service is going to stop service also watch out for very bad deal, this hotel is indepantent owned is not in conjunction with howard johnson so they wont help either.

Not so great!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/07
The price was a little high for what we got. The sink took forever to drain and they never fixed it. The toilet backed up twice and the front desk lady was multi-talented. She worked the front desk and fixed toilets! That's my biggest complaint - not enough staff to do the right jobs. The room was ok, but not worth $60, maybe $40. There were no bathrooms in the front lobby, stains on the front lobby chairs, and the elevators were dirty. Even though I had the air on full blast and ear plugs in my ears, I could still hear the highway noise. My niece's socks were black after walking around in the room. I guess they never really clean the carpets.

What gracious service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/06
The staff at HoJo by Six Flags in Arlington, Texas, were all gracious and helpful. Even though the staff was caught shorthanded the night we arrived, they immediately set to work assisting us by setting up a crib and helping us get settled. We were impressed by their kind professionalism, and the location (directly across the street from Six Flags) was great! In addition, having breakfast included in the reasonable rate meant that we could hit the ground running for the park right away. We will definitely stay there again!

They've got the Ranger Ballpark going for them.
By RonaldT, 7/7/06
I liked: The walking distance to see the Texas Rangers, the good breakfast. I disliked: the 1975 room decor, the stained carpets, the bait-and-switch pricing tactics. Watch Out! In 2000 they had $48.00 posted on the electric sign, but had no rooms for that price. This July, 2006 they had $59.95 posted on the electric sign, but had no rooms available for that price. The lowest they offered was $69.00. If you stay here, reserve over the phone or internet to get the correct rate. If you just walk up, you're going to get stiffed.

What a nightmare!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/06
The place was a dump. The halls and rooms were dark. That is probably so people can't tell how dirty it is. My son put brand new socks on after his shower. He walked from the bathroom to the bed and his socks were brown. The beds were hard and you could feel the springs poking you. We paid $90 for two double beds. For that price we could have stayed at the Hampton inn. Needless to say. I will never book a room at a Howard Johnson hotel again. I will make sure anyone I know doesn't either.

NOISY & BAD BEDS
By txnana4, 6/22/06
We were given a room closest to the highway; so, had the traffic to deal with all night. The king size bed was so soft that when my husband rolled over (even though I was hanging off the opposite side), I was tossed around. Got a roll away bed & the mattress was horrible...made crunching sounds & the pillow can't even be called a pillow (more like a towel folded over a couple of times. Did not stay the second night that we had reserved & they did refund out money for that. Except for once, when I went to the desk there was one person trying to handle the desk and phones calls. The time there were two people, they were both handling the same customer instead of helping others (one was asking questions on the phone & relaying it to the other).
