Great hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/11
Great hotel - beautiful views - friendly and courteous personnel - trolley comes to the front door - refrigerator in the room - huge TV - great pool area - quiet, away from the hustle of the main drag. I would stay here again.

a wonderful experience
By Jason, 4/15/10
as many hotels as i have stayed in, this one was incredible. as we got inside and saw the huge see through elevator that went up to 12 floors, i loved it. the staff was friendly and the room service was spectacular.i enjoyed how clean the place was and how nice the rooms were with everything in it. and believe me i check every detail from carpet to dusty windows, but this facility was in great shape and clean. i loved the fact that it had its own church and store inside. it is definately a place to go for a family trip or to go with a youth group. the balcony veiw was superb and the fact that you could see the sky buckets from your balcony added to the excitement of the trip. i understand that many times in our travels some hotels will face casualties, but this stay enlightened me to review and come back. it is truely a hotel of class, and i have seen many less than this. i will be back with great expectations, hungry for more!

GREAT DEAL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/23/10
I got this on hotels.com - was a little hesitant about it after reading some of the reviews but was very happy. Hotel is undergoing major renovations and we got one of the newly renovated rooms - very nice, fantastic view of the mountains. Staff very helpful and the food was great and very inexpensive compared to major chains. Pool area is being renovated next week and will be closed. Will go back again!

Will never stay there again!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/10
OK,………I am not a tightwad , it is the principle. I will not pay for Wi-Fi in what is supposed to be a nice hotel (Park Vista, Gatlinburg) ……….even Motel 8 has free internet! The staff was not very outgoing and never volunteered any information about what the hotel had to offer. Hotel was quite but then it seemed like there were very few staying there. The restaurant was closed because it was so slow. You cannot walk to town and will have to pay for parking or take the trolley if you visit the town. I would much rather spend my money on a hotel closer to town. The price was right for the Park Vista, we paid $12.76 for 2 nights because we received two nights free from a local car dealership with the purchase of our new car. We will not stay here again. We are in Gatlinburg 5-6 times a year and will stay at our usual hotels on the parkway.

Don't Stay Here!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/09
Apparently this hotel is being taken over by DoubleTree soon. However, in the interim, they are letting it go to hell in a handbasket. All of the things that used to be special about this place are now downsized or forgotten - ignored even, except the price of your stay. Even the staff are complaining. Good luck if you choose to stay here, especially if you have been here before.

Not worth the money paid
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/09
Sure the view is nice but the room was dirty, there is no refrigerator or microwave, you have to pay $10/day, $50/deposit for internet and there is no auxiliary channel on the TV for video games. You would think that at $130/night there would be some kind of perk! Heck, even Motel 6 gives you free internet access!! Needless to say we will not be back.

Will never go back
By Ashley, 2/16/09
My husband bought us the romance valentine's day package. It included a one night stay with mountain views, dinner for two with candle light and a champagne toast as well as breakfast in the morning. We were so excited. When we got there the lobby was packed with families, kids and teenagers there for a military ball. We waited in line for over 45mins to check in. Once we go to the front desk there were only two women working the desk. One was handling customers checking in and the other was handling the store and customers. It was very chaotic. Finally, we were able to check in. The woman asked us if we wanted a 10th floor mountain view or a 12th floor city view. We jumped on the mountain view. She then handed us vouchers for our dinner and breakfast. She handed us the menu we had to choose from for dinner. There was really nothing on it that my husband and I would eat. Before sending us to our rooms she told us to make reservations at the resturant because it was booking quickly. We thanked her and headed to the resturant across the lobby. We made our reservations for 8pm figuring it was only 5:30pm. We went upstairs to our room. From the moment we stepped off the elevator we were highly dissappointed. Our room was directly in front of the elevator, which meant we could hear it going up and down all night. Also our beds were right up against the ice machine hallway. As we entered our room we were saddened to see two full size beds instead of two queen size (there were no rooms left with kings). The decor was so outdated that it made us laugh. We decided to make the best of it and take in the view. The mountains were beautiful execept when you looked down you got a lovely view of the parking lot. We decided to check out the sheets on the bed and came to the realization that they were itchy and very uncomfortable. No matter which way you moved our headboards banged up against the wall. We got changed and headed down to the bar to kill some time. The bar was very crowded and there was only one bartender. We waited about 20mins for her to take our orders. She was running orders for people in the resturant was well. Our drinks were not bad. We headed to the resturant to sit in line for our reservation. We waited in line for 15mins or so. When we got to the front the women said that it would be about 30mins because they were running behind. We were okay with this. 30mins go by and they finally call us. We are seated in a corner table with a read table cloth and a candle. Out candle was not lit. We waited for service for 35mins. Finally someone came over and took our drink order. He gave us a choice and said we could have what was on the menu or the buffet. We chose the 10oz rib eye that was on the menu because the buffet was not to appeasing. He then told us we would have to get our own salads and bread. So, I grabbed a plate and headed to the buffet for salad and bread. The salad bar was very sad and did not offer much as well as the bread was cold. After we were done we waited for our meals. 45mins went by and still no meals. My husband and I waited 10 more mins and got up and left. We went straight to the front desk to speak with a manager. Virgina came over and told us that this was unacceptable. We told her we only wanted to pay for the room and forget the package. She said she would put a note in to comp the package and the night auditor will take care of it. By this time it was 10:30pm. We went to bed with no food and had the worst night sleep. 7:45am came and we were out the door. We went downstairs to check out and asked them about the comp to our room. The gentlemen did not know what we were talking about. I explained the story and told him to comp it or we were not leaving. He finally did but it was not the whole amount. We will be calling the general manager on Monday about this. I would not recommend it by any means.

Great Place to Be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/08
We were here for the Christmas week. This place was great, Veiw s were great and the only thing was that the weather did not bring in the snow. It just needs a update and paint job but it could not be better. Wi-Fi needs to be no charge!!!!!!!!!!!!! Resturant is very good is reasonable. Pool, wirlpool, workout room. laundry, and archade were good for the stay.Use the Trolley to go to town. Will come back again.

Great Experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/4/08
The hotel was packed on Thanksgiving 2008. We stayed three nights at $68 per. The clerk staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and fresh. The view was outstanding. Thanksgiving dinner was excellent and reasonable. Drinks at the bar were a bit pricy, waiters were sometimes scarce, but still very friendly and professional dispite a crowded lounge and lobby. There was easy access to the pet area and we enjoyed seeing families and pets having a good time together. The grounds and hotel was very clean. The pool area was very well kept and clean. Acces to the pool was also very convenient. The trolley at 50 cents a ride was very handy and enjoyable...rather than $8 to $10 bucks for parking downtown. Never a very long wait for the trolley. After all...your in the beautiful Smokey Mountains...enjoy the view while you wait! We will visit again!
