Description

The Vendune Inn is located in the historic French Quarter founded by French Huguenots in the 1700s. The Inn suffered during the Civil War but renovations in the 1800s brought it back to its original glory. Its decor is old world charm created by the combination of antiques and 18th century replicas. This small-luxury Inn provides great service and is devoted to personal attention, like evening turn-down service. The elegant hallways are filled with the aroma of fresh flowers. Located in Charleston's French Quarter, the Vendue Inn will appease anyone's appetite for a taste of historic Charleston. The Library at Vendue, the Inn's intimate restaurant, throws a dash of the South into the American cuisine. Or enjoy the views from the rooftop bar and restaurant.

Mosquitos in the Rooms ! You Can't Sleep
By HYY, 2/7/10
we killed more than 12 mosquitos in our room... Location is good, but staff is very rude, rooms and beds are terrible... I do not recommend at all.

Great trip to the classic south!
By Brew Lamb, 3/13/09
The Vendue Inn was a great place to stay on our vacation. The hotel had a wonderful atmosphere and is very centrally located to shopping and the beautiful historic downtown attractions! I know when we return to Charleston for our wedding there is only one place to stay!

We can't wait to go back!
By alena4redken, 10/27/08
The hotel is attractive with a very knowledgeable staff. The location is convienient with several upscale dining choices in walking distance. I highly recommend Grill 225! The noise didn't bother my husband and me, but I do see where it may be bothersome to others. The room we stayed in was very small, but nice. The breakfast was wonderful! I recommend this inn to everyone!

Nice staff, NOISY HOTEL
By Jim, 6/8/08
Staff was great but this place is noisy Noisy NOISY. The floors creek, the walls are paper thin, and the rooftop Bar is loud. The complementary breakfast was very good. The complementary bicycles were very nice. And the rooftop bar is obviously one of the more popular places to party until 3AM in the morning. But if you are looking to get any sleep in this hotel, you will not get it.

Horrible Anniversary
By Richard, 5/21/08
My family arranged a special weekend at this Inn as a special present to my parents who were celebrating their 60th Anniversary. Charleston is where they celebrated their first honeymoon Anniversary. This was supposed to be something very special for them. However, their visit to your Inn turned out to be anything but special. The first night, Friday October 26th , their rest from a long drive was disturbed but the band moving from to rooftop bar to inside the Inn. After the band ended several of those who were patrons of the bar ended up outside their guest room. These people were very loud and my father had to contact the front desk about the noise. Police were called to disperse the loud crowd. This was at 1:50 AM. One of the main reason we selected your Inn was because you offered a full “gourmet Southern breakfast”. This was to include fresh baked bread and a decadent plentiful hot entrée. Instead, my parents received steam table scrabbled eggs, hard biscuits and a small portion of cold hash browns. One Sunday, there was only one wait staff available. She took my parents order for breakfast. Another group came in and she took their order. She then brought this group their order before she brought the order for my parents. When questioned, she said that she was sorry but she was overwhelmed by the number of people at breakfast. My parents left and got breakfast at a local restaurant. They did not eat breakfast at the Inn on Monday. They went to another restaurant to get better food and better service. My parents stated that the room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. Both rooms were very dirty. They also mentioned that a sign outside stated that is was a “High Crime Area Watch”. This sign was posted by the Police Department. My parents did say that the staff was very friendly and courteous. When making these reservation, I talked to your reservation staff. I was very explicit that this was a very special event and it was their 60th Anniversary. I certainly expected that the Inn would have provided a room that was perfect for this occasion. I also expected the gourmet Southern breakfast with Hot soft Southern traditional biscuits. Not the HARD day old biscuits that were served. I am very disappointed that my parents were not able to enjoy a “memorable experience’ during their stay at your Inn. They deserved better for their 60th Anniversary. DO NOT STAY AT THIS INN. They are NOT as they advertise. I sent a letter and three emails. The management has yet to respond. They JUST DON/T CARE. They have your money and that is all they care about.

No Thank You
By Patrick B, 5/19/08
On Sunday morning at 6AM, we awoke to a Trash Truck outside the window. Then, our service at breakfast was weak at best. Great location, but not a good value for the B&B. Stay somewhere else and hit the Vendue rooftop bar for drinks.

Vendue- PU
By Lauren, 5/4/08
Althought the hotel is quite charming by appearance, it is located right next to some very loud pubs/bars that play music on the roof (directly across from our room) and lacks the proper insulation. As a result, throughout the evening and into the night we heard music blasting into the suite. To add insult to injury, the hotel management made no effort aside from a pair of earplugs (upon request) to compensate us for our inconvenience. If you're coming to Charleston for a restful and quiet get-a-away, Get AWAY from the Vendue.

Fantastic stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/08
Perfect location next to Queen Street, East Bay, and the Waterfront Park. Exceptional service, and the free breakfast every morning is outstanding. They offer free cookies and milk in the evenings as well. One big attraction is that the hotel is VERY pet friendly, and this is amazing considering the quality and location of the hotel. You can even bring large, well-mannered dogs there for a reasonable, one-time $50 pet fee. The Rooftop Bar is a popular attraction, however, and college kids will line up in front and make a lot of noise. Best advice here is to turn on the fan on the A/C unit, which will drown them out and give a steady hum that makes it easy to fall asleep. One of the best overall stays at any hotel I've ever had anywhere, and the best I've had in Charleston over the many years I've been going there.

if you love loud music at midnight...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/08
Great location, nice people, comfortable room with great bathroom, excellent breakfast, BUT... LOUD rock music from the rooftop bar until midnight, after which the young folks stood on the street loudly talking & whooping for joy. I'm glad that THEY like staying up and making noise. If you don't, try someplace else.

Never again!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/07
They obviously think the location of their inn is all that matters. The staff was not helpful with any of our questions or requests for assistance. Their southern hospitality was insincere. Breakfasts were cold, food was mediocre at best, service was slow, and the tableware and table cloths were not clean. Afternoon appetizers were very poor, the serving table had little to offer but a few crackers. Room was OK, but nothing exceptional.
