A Great Experience

We just returned from our stay at the Ocean Reef Resort and were very pleased with our experience. We have a 3 year old son and this was his first trip to the beach and he loved it! And I don't just mean the beach...he liked the hotel.
We stayed on the 7th floor in an oceanfront room. The room was clean. In the kitchenette, there was an ample supply of cooking utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, pans, silverware, a toaster, coffee mugs, and a coffeemaker. Take your own dishtowels/papertowels and pot holders. The refrigerator was small and was in need of defrosting but held two 6 pack bottles of pop, eggs, milk, fruit, 3 kinds of lunch meat, several bottles of water and there was room for more. The kitchen was small but it is a kitchenette that has been incorporated into what I would consider a normal size hotel room...there is very little counter space but we were able to make breakfast for 3 every morning.
We had no problems checking in or finding a parking space. The hotel has 15-17 floors and we never had to wait more than 1-2 minutes for an elevator. 90% of the time the elevator was there for you in under 1 minute.
Our son thoroughly enjoyed the kiddiepools and the lazy river. The staff who monitored the pools, for I assume PH levels, were visible and took readings several times a day. There were always plenty of towels poolside.
The only complaint that we had is that they advertised free wireless internet service. As with many places, this was a problem. We had a lot of trouble accessing the server. The reason being that people log-on and stay logged-on, therefore, the servers were overloaded. If you have dreams of sitting on the balcony and listening to the sounds of the ocean as you stay connected to family and friends back home, check your work/personal e-mail accounts or just randomly surf the net...dream on.
We did not eat at their restaurants so I can not comment on their food. The hotel is on the north end of Myrtle Beach. It was not crowded. There is a Starbucks across the street and you can easily walk to the River City Cafe...we took a stroller and didn't need to.
The have 3 coin operated washers/dryers on the 2nd floor. They have a nice workout facility with several treadmills, 2 elliptical machines, and some nautilus/free weight equipment. They have a SMALL game room that we did not use but did see a few teenagers in there ocassionally.
In spite of the problems with the internet connection, I still rate this hotel as excellent. The room was CLEAN and the staff was FRIENDLY and HELPFUL.
