Holiday Inn Riverview, Charleston

Arrived and one elevator was working due to lighting strike. A act of god.Asked for a non-smoking room and was given one that had been smoked in. We had a excellent view of the Waffle House roof from the 12th floor. Room was damp I think the air comditioner was leaking into the carpet because everything in room stayed damp. Resturant food was overpriced. Hotel is old, and needs serious upgrades. Shuttle service was the best thing offered and the drivers were great and went far and beyond in their service.

I had never been to Charleston but have always wanted to go; When my daughter was referred to MUSC I was excited but nervous because I knew nothing about the area. we were given wonderful directions to the hotel and loved the shuttle to the hospital; the breakfast bar was great; the room was clean and we loved the view from the room and the restaurant; we saw a rainbow after the thunderstorm; the beds were comfy; the TV good-sized we'll definetly go back when my daughter has her surgery

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I was a woman traveling with 2 children and they went out of their way to help with directions, etc. Free shuttle was great but VERY crowded and good location. However views from rooms are mostly of interstate and waffle house, rooms are old and dated, and balcony doors are permanently locked! Beds were the worst ive ever seen in a hotel. Remember you are getting what you pay for!

We made a reservation 2 months ahead of time. We then called to confirm the reservation a few days before staying. Both times, making sure that we would be getting a riverview room. We showed up to check in and of course they tell us that all the riverview rooms are booked. The view was the only reason for staying at this hotel. We came here 2 years ago and had bad customer service as well but decided to stay again only because of the view. However, after dealing with these people again, we will not be back. Also, we even called their corporate office to try and atleast get a discount on the room and they could care less also. We will not be staying at any Holiday Inn ever again. We would rather give our money to a company who cares about keeping customers.

The staff was wonderful, genuinely polite and willing to go the extra mile for you. A guest somehow dropped her car keys down the elevator shaft from the 9th floor and without hesitation they were ready and able to help her get them back. The view we had from our balcony was of the river and its drawbridge and was nice to look at while sipping my morning coffee. The rooms are a little dated but very clean and the hotel is currently undergoing renovations to the lounge and restraunt. They offer a shuttle service to several points in downtown Charleston which makes takes away having to pay for parking downtown.

Holiday Inn Charleston Riverview has a central location. It is a struggle to get a "view room" on a high level floor. What you reserve and what you get may not actually match. When you reserve, emphasize "view" and "high level"; and request a confirmation. The view of the roof restaurant is great, but not the service! The location adds a lot to the value of the hotel. With better service, it could have been perfect.

The hotel is located in a very nice area. It had a wonderful view. You just have to request a room with a view. The staff did everything to make us feel welcome by helping us look up addresses and phone numbers. Took us to places in Charleston in the bus. And the hotel looked great from a distance.

Overall, it was a nice place, everyone was friendly and the rooms were cleaned each day. They have a restaurant and bar, plus internet was available and the hotel is located about 2 miles for downtown, about a ten minute drive. They also have a shuttle which runs downtown. And parking down town isn’t that expensive either. I would stay again and refer my friends.

My husband and I were very satisfied with the service we received. Our room was large, clean and our bed comfortable. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. All of our requests were addressed in a timely manner. We did not have a rental car so the daily free shuttle into town proved advantageous for us.

Overall, enjoyable stay, with courteous, efficient staff. Room was not adequately furnished with face cloths and toilet tissue. Erroneous charge on bill was handled professionally and courteously at check out. Rooms/restaurant/bathrooms/elevators were exceptionally clean and operable, although food and trash from function in the Sumter Room were left on floor overnight, near our room. Exit and Entrance to hotel on East side was hazardous due to off ramp from direction of Folly Rd/Savannah Rd area. Restaurant offers beautiful views of the area. Requested room w/view on 14th floor. Disappointed that we had a great view of the local Waffle House. We will return but will be a little more specific on room request.
