9 reviews for Inn at Nichols Village, Clarks Summit
Reffered & Surprised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/09
I highly recommend this hotel to other travelers. I was reffered to Nichols by the Hampton Inn that was sold out the night I was in the area. It's basically right across the street and I found it to be exceptional. Checking in the front desk informed me of the breakfast, indoor pool, and their Italian restaurant. I didn't geth a chance to try the restaurant or pool, but their breakfast was very good (better than most hotels). I have to admit when I visit the Clarks Summit/Scranton area again Nichols will be my choice hotel.

A Hidden Oasis On A Busy Street
By EugeniaC, 08/02/08
I had wanted to go to the Inn at Nichols Village for 2 years and I finally made it. When arriving, I noticed it was located off a busy main street and was disappointed. But, after staying there and walking around, it was a peaceful place to stay. I stayed in the Presidental Building which was a 2 story building. The stairway is located inside the building, but you had to use your keycard to enter the hallway. The room was very large and the bed was extremely comfortable; I didn't want to get out of it. The bathroom is normal size with a vanity and sink outside and inside the bathroom. There's a small refig, a 19inch TV and no microwave. The free high speed internet service is extremely slow; so don't plan to work on your computer much. The garden spa with jacuzzi is small, only 4 people can fit comfortably. The plantation shutters open to reveal a large balcony. The balcony looks out on the courtyard - perfect for entertaining and has a huge canopy. Entering main building from the courtyard will lead you to the large swimming pool that has 2 banquet rooms on either end. The 4 story main building has an elevator and a breezeway on the 3rd floor connecting Applewood and Chestnut section. The gym is a nice size with treadmill, stepclimber, stationary bicycle and weight machine, sauna with lockers and massage therapist is located on the first floor. Continental breakfast is served near the main entrance and reservation desk. The landscaping is lovely with colorful floral arrangements, waterfalls and stone paths leading to the Italian restaurant Bazil which has a classy and inviting decor. The location of the Inn is 20 minutes away from a HUGE mall and other restaurants. I did get a chance to peek at the king size room with jacuzzi. My next stay will be in that room! The room is large enough to hold a small gathering with the L-shaped sofa and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom is large with a 2-person jacuzzi and glassed enclosed shower. I would recommend the Inn at Nichols Village if you want to get away for a nice 2-3 day retreat or having a wedding reception! The courtyard, banquet room and swimming pool is the perfect setting. The pictures posted here does not do the Inn justice, so I took pictures to show you all the things that were missing. My 4 hour drive from DC was well worth it. I just wished I stayed longer. Bring a romantic book, some champagne, some candles, your loved one and spend some quality time on your balcony or in the courtyard. I gave the location an excellent rating because once you get pass the busy street, you think you're in another place, a hidden treasure.

Well worth the money
By James, 03/17/08
We were focred to stay here after a horrible experience at the Holiday Inn (Scranton - East) so it was last minute reservations but this place was well worth the money. No bar but there was a great one 50 yards up the road. Rooms were huge with nice big windows and was a great decision for us.

It's nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/07
I was there with my family and it is worth the money. Location is nice because there are lots of eating places around it. Wireless access is provided. Rooms arent that great but ok. Accesible to Poconos if you dont want to pay high for couple of nights its about 50 minutes from poconos.

And 5 stars isn't enough to say about this!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/03/06
I found the place through one of those discount websites, at my own price, so I didn't know what to think at first. However, upon getting there, I was very impressed! I had wanted to see if I could upgrade my room to the Presidential Suite and they did it WITH NO EXTRA COST! That was the best decision since I had a beautiful room, nice king bed and a walk to the private spa bath, which I had used both days I was here and felt NICE. The staff was incredibly friendly! I could have had a back massage right on the spot as I passed by the fitness area but I was sick...though next time, I will definitely do that! The cleaning ladies were very nice as well. But the actual establishment....WOW! It felt more like a "campus" than an actual hotel facility. I walked through a couple of buildings where they had the pool (pretty sizable for a hotel), fitness center and main lobby. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it was interesting that it was in a separate building and not "attached" per se to the rest of the hotel. The one thing that I was concerned about was that since the hotel is in Clarks Summit and the happenings in the area are in downtown Scranton was trying to venture out. I didn't want to drive so I called a taxi. The cab will run you about $15 (one way) and is only 20 minutes to downtown (Right on 11 and that becomes an expressway). For the cost of the room and the cab fare round trip, it STILL worked out cheaper than staying in a downtown establishment! For the price, service and quality.....forget downtown Scranton. THIS is the place you want to stay!

Terrible Experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/06
At check-in time, I requested a non-smoking room. I was immediately told that the room that had been reserved was a non-smoking room. When we entered, the smell of old, long-term smoking was very evident. The bedding, draperies, and furniture were permeated with the stench of cigarettes. There was a woman from housekeeping preparing the room across the hall. She was extremely polite and cooperative, and she told me that she would have her supervisor come to speak with me. When the supervisor showed up, she simply told me they were moving us to the room next door and she handed me the keys and that was that. Upon entering the second room, it was obvious the room had been sprayed, to mask the odor. The draperies had cigarette burns and I could still smell the cigarettes. Obviously, they do not reserve rooms specifically for non-smokers. By removing ash trays and spraying, any room conveniently becomes a non-smoking room. I did not appreciate their deceitful way. Due to extreme sensitivity to cigarette smoke, I suffered from the physical symptoms it causes, and my weekend was ruined.

A wonderful hotel that offers many amenities.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/06
The rooms are accomodating. The only comment that I could make is that the evening menu at their restaurant include light sandwich selections. The food is excellent and always served with a flair, however, without a car (on occassion)and not wanting room service, walking to a restaurant that offers lighter fare would not be an option. In addition, some of the other hotels in the area offer a light continental breakfast, this use to be the case here however, since the upgrade of the restaurant, this amenity was stopped. This will not preclude me from staying at this hotel again. Their only other competition, as far as I am concerned, is the Hampton Inn which has a restaurant within walking distance that is not fast food.

not sure if I will return.
By San, 11/16/05
This hotel is very nice and has all the bells and whitles. nice touch was the his and her bathrobes. The indoor pool was the nicest that I have seen and very large deep end 9 feet. The game room is small with 3 or 4 old pinball type games. The excerise room has weights, treadmill, stair climber, bike. The sauna, was very clean We had the jacuzzi in our room.. . We stayed 2 nights which house keeping was aware of.. On our return to our room in the evening our bathrobes that were an amenity were no longer there, also missing the shampoo , lotion and NO soap... The sheets were not changed.I was very disappointed by this. The tip we left was taken for that day and more coffee was supplied so we know our room was serviced to some degree. The shower would fluctuate in water temperature to the point of burning .
