10 reviews for The Historic Summit Inn Resort, Farmington
Nice relaxing getaway
By Melissa, 10/28/07
I just spent the weekend here with my husband for our anniversary. Disregard the extremely negative reviews of this hotel. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated but if you wanted modern you should not be choosing a historical landmark. The food was excellent! I read the reviews and was worried but it was outstanding, we had breakfast 2 days and dinner once. Now it was a tad on the pricier side but if you are used to going to nice restaurants you will not have sticker shock. If you do not normally go to nicer restaurants - you will think it is overpriced. The service was very good overall. We enjoyed the hotel lobby and fireplace, played chess and had a drink at the bar. The location is good also, we went to Laurel Caverns which is just 5 minutes up the road and there is a great little diner about 15 minutes down the road. Overall, it is a very nice hotel, it could use some updates in the bathrooms, but if you are looking for charm and character, this is a nice weekend getaway.

Great family place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/07
I stayed at the Summit Inn with my husband and two daughters. We had a wonderful expierence at the inn and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and the friendly staff. the kids enjoyed the pools. Our family is big on outdoor activities, so ohiopyle was the perfect place for biking seeing as its only 15 minutes from the hotel. The Summit even made us picnic lunchs to take on our biking trip. After a long day of biking I returned to the hotel for a massage. It was a great end to my vacation. My daughters cant wait to go back. I think this trip will definitly become a yearly vaction!

a hidden gem!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/07
I am a business traveler, and on the road 200 days a year. Being on trips and going from place to place can be rough, and normally i just stay in Econos or motels...but i read about the summit inn in an article and decided to treat myself on my next trip. From my expierence staying at this inn I would strongly recommend coming here for any occasion. the atmosphere was comforting and relaxing, and though I was away on business, I felt like I was at home. so whether your on a business trip or a family vacation, I would certainly suggest visiting this hiddin gem!

No place like it
By J.G., 11/11/06
My wife of 35 years and I came to stay at the Summit for a few days because we wanted to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the area. We were very satisfied with our stay, and our room had a lovely view of the valley. Our only complaint is that they are not open year round.

Highly Recommended
By Jenna, 11/11/06
My sister and I meet every year at a different place just to have a weekend away, and this year we chose The Summit. We couldn't have been happier! Their restaurant had such good food, and the staff was very personable. We spent almost an entire evening relaxing in front of the fireplace with glasses of wine. We usually try to go somewhere different each year, but we will definitely be returning to the Summit.

Poor, Unprofessional Service
By lisa k, 11/06/06
Our stay at the Summit Inn was terrible. 1) The food at the restaurant was greasy - everything saturated with butter & stale bread. The waiter was unfriendly. 2) They advertise services which they do not have. Upon booking we were told that massage was offered every evening, but nobody was working during our stay. 3) Our room was freezing and musty. 4) Worst of all, my mother sent flowers to our room but they never arrived. The staff refused to take responsibility for their mistake and decided instead to call us liars. I will never return to a place that treats their customers with such distrust and disrespect.

Too pricey
By Barbara, 08/21/06
Dinner prices were outrageous. Spaghetti with no salad for $15? Who can afford that? Not me.

Warm and Cozy
By KAREN, 07/23/06
We had their fabulous crabcakes, best I've ever had. The view was wonderful, I've never seen anything like it. This would be the perfect hotel to stay at for a romantic getaway. And the pool is an Olympic sized pool, plenty of room for my family.

WE ARE COMING BACK NEXT WEEK
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/05
we didnt like how we went to dinner there and they made us sit in with a reheral dinner i was quite put out with that. your pool was to small and didnt fit the needs of my family, we feel that you need to upgrade your pool and make it bigger.

Historically rich
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/05
We stayed during a rafting trip - so didn't get the full experience. Loved having the lounge with the live local talent and restaurant below - but also hated having the lounge below as well - the volume seemed to increase as the evening got later. The historically rich hotel is a peek into better times, although some refurbishing and re-flooring of the dank-smelling hallways would be a plus. Maybe a project for off-season while they're closed?
