Great Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/09
Everyone was always courteous and professional. The rooms were well decorated! The hotel is located within walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. We're definately looking forward to next year's visit!

What was I thinking?!
By Jbarton, 04/25/09
After a very long trip in the car we had a very late check in, the woman here to check us in was clueless about parking. She was unable to confirm that our reservation was pre-paid in full, which was a stressful concern. She asked if we made the reservation "on the internet", when we replied yes she stated that we just "check in, and the internet will then pay them." I mean....clueless.. No TURNDOWN SERVICE?? We left our room for at least 4 hours and it was just as we left it when we returned, The pictures of the Hotel make it look rather grandios, but it's really pretty small and sort of unwelcoming. We made our own bed and recieved no complimentary continental breakfast, which is kind of standard even for a red roof inn. I would recommend staying there instead, especially because we are right above the emergency center, (Harrisburg's crime and corruption levels have skyrocketed since the 80's) where EMS vehicles scream through the intersection loudly enough to feel as though it's right under your bed. The room service is expensive. The bathroom is the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen. Also, it may be nothing, but there is a suspicious looking vent in the shower that screams "watching you". They provide 1 set of eye masks and earplugs. So my husband and I barely caught up on sleep. It's very expensive for what you get. It's centrally located, but be sure you bring lots of extra money for Valet, it's $18 a day. Or you can park on the street for free on Saturday and Sunday. We wouldn't dream of staying here again.

Would return in a heartbeat!
By MD, 09/01/08
My wife and I travel to New York, Washington and Philly and have stayed in all kinds of rooms, suites, etc. I would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Harrisburg. From the parking valet to staff we saw in elevators - everyone was pleasant, professional and courteous. The hotel is really beautiful.(Anyone who's lived in Harrisburg in the late '80's should remember what a dive it once was!) The hotel is super-close to 2nd Street's "Restaurant Row" which also has a lot of night-life. It's also one block from the river walk and an IMAX theater. Like any other list of hotel reviews, you mostly read from those patrons who were disappointed or have an axe to grind. Talk it all with a grain of salt...even this one. But I do think you have better odds of having a nice time here than a regrettable one.

Great except for the service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/08
We stayed there for a bachelorette party. The room was beautiful and clean, although a tad small and the bathroom was cramped. The only real complaint I have, however, is about the staff at the front desk. The one girl used profane language right in front of us and for the most part, except one man, were unprofessional and it felt like we were a nuisance to them just by being there. Also, we asked for a refridgerator in the room and saw them radio the person to bring one up, but nothing ever came...

Wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/08
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. I was only in town for one night, but it really made an impression. The parking is $18, but I left my car there 2 days; it would have cost me more at any other garage & they keep a close eye on all the cars. The Capitol Building is a 10-minute walk away. The employees were polite and eager to please, and $104 for a Friday night? Please! The room was plenty spacious for me. The street noise is very noticeable, but they do provide ear plugs and the bed is COMFY! I'll stay there again anyday.

Only bad reviews make the news
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/08
I live locally and stay at the Crowne Plaza once in a while to have a good time downtown. The staff is always professional and rooms are always clean. You hear people complain about paying for parking or breakfast, but who are these people? Are these people that have traveled to large cities or other countries? You will pay for breakfast and parking in 90% of city hotels! Get out once in a while and you may know these things. Ever stay in a NYC or London hotel where you have 3 feet of space on either side of the bed? Just remember, there are always going to be people you can't please. to these people I say get a motor home.

Great place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/07
I'm not quite sure what other people experienced while staying at the Crowne Plaza, but I think that they must have fixed a lot of the problems that people have been mentioning. We were hesitant to stay here because of some negative reviews, but we found our stay to be truly delightful. We talked with some other families about the hotel and they all had positive experiences like we did. The facilities were beautiful, the rooms comfortable, the location ideal. The pricing is very good for such a nice hotel located right in the heart of the city. Strongly recommended!

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/31/07
For this kind of money, I would expect a fairly good experience, but that was not the case here. The rooms are SO SMALL, and the road noise was horrible - there is no insulation to the outside and I didn't get any sleep (even though they provide complimentary ear plugs with every room). The restaurant in the hotel is limited. You have to pay for parking, and I wouldn't have parked my own car down there, only the rental. I have never ahd an experience so bad I felt compelled to write a review, until now.

Nice, from the outside
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/06
I did like that for a small fee this hotel allowed me to bring my dog so that I did not have to pay to have hear kennelled. My husband, daughter nad I were there for 5 days, cleaning personnel never came. We were told the hotel had internet access and a microwave (important when traveling with an infant), not true. We did complain and get a discount but given the amount of money we spent the hotel should have been a LOT better.

ruined my vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/06
booked 5 rooms with 4 to 6 per room. Lets start with when booking told kids eat free...well when we got there told no they don't. No game room for kids to play and after spending all day at hershey park we get back to order drinks from lounge (bartender different (Toni & Mike)each night & both stated you could go anywhere in hotel with drinks)and told kids can't stay near lounge area so moved up to pool area and was told to move from there also it was closed 11.30 AM. Asked where can we stay and they sugguested we could go to bed!! After leaving there we sat in lobby only to be asked to leave again. This hotel is not for familys. Staff was rude, room was never made after first night, parking lot was small plus they charge for parking. Never again even for Free. One good note called guest relations Holiday Inn and they took $$ off bill.
