worst hotel I have stayed at
By Jerry, 8/21/11
They have a big lot but for the bar and all the activities going on not enough for the guests. They had meetings and a yard sale in the lot. Their was no place for room guest to park. I talked to staff and they did not care or help with the problem. I see by the other reviews i am not sure why other people stay here. The company paid for this stay, if I were footing the bill I would be finding another hotel. Do not stay here.

Dirty and Sleezy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/29/11
BEWARE!!! after staying at this place for two days I discovered a huge hole behind the mirror over the sink. Turns out the hole goes to a hallway and leads to all the other rooms (which also have holes behind the mirrors). Although the holes may or may not be used for creeping purposes as of now, there is no way to tell if a new employee or other guest would utilize these holes for unethical purposes such as peeping or stealing. When I notified management I was given a "free appetizer coupon" and told the holes for maintenance. Sure is a lazy way to do maintenance. Also, seemed like none of the female employees knew about these holes. I would not recommend this place to any woman traveling, I felt unsafe and extremely uncomfortable. Also, it is attached to a few bars which brings a lousy crowd. Not to mention the sheets were stained when i checked in and there was hairs on the towels.

Not what we were hoping for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/27/11
This was more of a motel than a hotel. The only positive note was the housekeeping in our room. We were not thrilled with going outside to get to our room and the pool in the middle of February. The indoor pool was not at all what we expected- dingy, dirty. Parts of the property looked like they needed TLC. We liked the location, but the attached bars made it more of a frat party crowd. We went to get a drink at the bar after having dinner at a nearby restaurant, and found girls dancing on the bars and a questionable crowd. Don't advertise this as a quality hotel. It's a motel attached to a skanky bar.

dont stay here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/10
There was almost nothing to like about this place aside from the location. The room was disgusting, the exterior was bland, the hotel staff was rude and arrogant and unorganized. The TV didnt work, the toilet didnt shut off, there were bugs everywhere, and the sheets were not changed. Call the health department!

WRONG spelling of my last name at my wedding.
By Lisa Gove, 12/13/09
I will make this quick for you. How great do you think your stay / wedding with be with this place if they can't take 4 letters and spell them right after receiving a lot of money (5 figures to be exact). YUP you got it they spelled my new last name, my husbands last name wrong at our wedding reception. ENJOY YOUR Stay / WEDDING ...lets hope you only have 3 letters in your last name.

Worst hotel I ever had to stay in.
By Seth Werner, 10/17/09
This was the worst hotel I ever stayed in. There were bugs all over the place. The toilet ran all night. The staff was so arrorgant and rude. I would never stay there again. All of the public spaces inside were so cold that I had to wear a winter jacket over my wool suit. Terrible, and horrible. 0 out of 5 stars.

Awful and Infuriating Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/13/09
I organized a Junior High School band/choir trip to Hershey PA to compete in a national music festival. We booked a group of 130 people (117 room nights) to stay at the Holiday Inn – Harrisburg West hotel for three nights as it appeared to be a nice hotel on their web-site. When we arrived we found that the banquet hall that was going to be provided for a practice session was not set as previously arranged. When we checked into our rooms we found bugs in the rooms, beer bottles, used soap in the shower, and a lack of towels. We did the best we could to take care of the situation ourselves as it was late and the students had to compete the next morning. The night manager tried to assist, but was overwhelmed with the number of issues. As the night continued, we had more issues. We had three broken beds (they tip and fall off the plastic cone propping it up) and believe it or not… dog “droppings” in a room. A person in our group dropped the TV remote off the bed. As he went to retrieve it from under the bed skirt, he found dog “droppings” under his bed. Absolutely disgusting!! Every manager I spoke with was apologetic, but didn’t have the authority to do anything about the situation. I requested that the general manager speak with us during our visit. I did not receive a call or a visit. The hotel has done nothing for us as far as I am concerned. We spent over $11K at this hotel and the GM refuses to call me. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

Never again....
By TC G, 2/25/08
First off I will say that the Bar tender we had for our company function was terrific and the staff was pleasant.....but that is all I can say that was good. The rooms were extremely noisy due to the clubs attached to the hotel. The beds were rock hard, hey if you like a very firm mattress this is up your ally. The appetizers were ok. Our dinner was not the best. The London broil was good but the veggies were bland the potatoes dried out, the roast beef was rubbery and the stuffed chicken breast was flavorless. The dessert was good. Our breakfast in the meeting room was sat out 45 minutes before we were scheduled to have breakfast and it was cold. There was not enough food made. The bathroom in the room were so small that you could barely turn around in the shower....and we had a suite. It was the size of a normal room. You have got to be kidding me with the prices they charge for these types of problems.

We will be back
By Angela, 8/30/07
We have just returned after a repeat visit to PA and stay at the hotel. We were there to attend the Corvettes at Carlisle and were quite pleasantly surprized at the overall improvements the Inn has made. We are long time repeat guests and this year was by far the best. The staff's care and respect for their guests is clearly evident by the attention to detail and friendiness on every level. We received complimentary vouchers for beverages and appetizers, there was a cookout for guests in the picnic grove, the staff greeted us as repeat guests as though we were family. The physical upgrades to the room are wonderful. The beds were comfortable and clean and a choice of pillow firmness and an explanation of the types of pillows available was all new and all so welcoming. The dining experience has improved too. With all of the readily available and conveniences of so many restaurants - we ate at the Holiday Inn three out of five nights and our friends ate there four out of five nights - the food is good, fresh and reasonably priced. The convenience of parking the car and taking a walk to the restaurant and enjoying a good meal made the decision of where to eat very easy. Our stay will once again be repeated next year for the Corvettes at Carlisle show and this review was warranted because the staff has stepped in up and it shows. They made our visit to the car show exceptional as we gather with our friends each evening at one of the picnic tables and it truly is a family reunion of sorts. The Holiday Inn staff would stop by and visit with us to make sure our needs were tended to. A great visit and we will be back. We have reserved our usual eight rooms for next year and we look forward more than ever to the newly improved Holiday Inn in Mechanicsburg, PA.
