Romance personified!
By A Yahoo! User, 12/31/09
20 years ago today my husband proposed to me at Birchwood. How I wish we could be celebrating New Year's Eve 2009 at Birchwood. It was a wonderful, magical place. There will never be another place like it. I will always remember Birchwood fondly!

Closed but not forgotten!!!!

We honeymooned there in Oct. 1983. Had a wonderful time, great food, plenty of activities, lovely scenery and personable staff. We went back many times. Have many wonderful memories. Wish you were still opened. It was a one of a kind place, we can't find anything to top it.

We were married in may of 1978 and we rember the newlywed game which we had won.The plane ride over the Water Gap in which my poor wife got sick. The big question of the week was "how many times have you dipped your candle" Sorry to see it has been closed.

Sorry to Hear Birchwood is Closed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/09
My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon at Birchwood in November, 1973. This year we celebrated our 36th anniversary and searched the web to see what Birchwood is like today. We were sorry to learn it is closed. We really enjoyed Birchwood as a honeymoon resort -- having a private cabin with a fireplace and canopy bed was great -- we enjoyed the airplane ride touring the area, riding bike, the hayride was fun and it was just relaxing to do as much or little as we wanted -- a great place to begin your relationship together. We still have the hand dipped candles we made during our week stay at Birchwood. It was a great resort and we are sorry it is closed.

It's closed?!?!?!?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/06/09
We spent our honeymoon at Birchwood in March 73. We were just kids (at 18!) but have wonderful memories of our week there. After 37 years together, we would have loved to return. We won the newlywed game and cherish our pics playing basketball on roller skates. Wonder if that's why we ended up with 7 kids who all love and play basketball??? We hoped to drive through to remember such sweet times on an upcoming trip to PA from our home in FL. So sad!

Fond Memories
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/09
I am so sad to hear that Birchwood had closed, Caole and Wally made it a family type resort. My wife and I honeymooned there in May of 1965 We've been back at least 10 times each time it was great. The food and The Red Baron Inn...what a night club we dance till closing, I was going to surprize my wife and take her back for our 45th Anniversary, but alas all good things come to an end...We'll always remember Birchwood!!!

wish we could go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/09
We used to visit yearly from 1982 till it closed. It was the best couples resort. we are so sad that it has closed down. It's like a part of us is missing. We talk about the good times we had all the time. At least we have the fond memories of a wonderful experience. Wish someone would bring it back.

memories returned quickly driving by
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/09
we vacationed at Birchwood 3 times in the 80's On our second trip the resort treated us to an aircraft tour of the surrounding area. after that I had earned my private pilots license and returned by air Drove through last summer, it was sad to see the place closed but the memories came rushing back. It seems like someone could restore Birchwood and be successful.

Sad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/09
We spent our honeymoon there in 1963 and although it was for us expensive but worth every penny. The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating and the food and general appearance were first class. We returned 4 times since then and could see the handwriting on the wall that it would be closing. We would love to go back again if someone were to open it and bring it back to the way it was.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/09
I am so sad to hear this resort has closed. Today is my 20th anniversary, we honeymoonded there July 22, 1989. I was so so so hot!!! I remember us saying we would like to return in the winter, and go snow mobilling. ha. Well, I was plannig to make a 20 & 1/2 year resercation for that today for a anniversary present in the winter so we could snow mobil there. Well, I guess that will not happen. so sad:(
