Stratford Inn, Ashland

We've been going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 15+ years and don't even seriously consider staying anywhere but the Stratford. Its location and amenities make it a great place for theatergoers to stay, especially those travelling with kids. Every room includes a small refrigerator, so you can easily keep snacks and other necessities in the room for the kids. There's a grocery store with a directly across the street--very convenient. The Stratford also has several suites with full kitchens available, for those who want to prepare meals in their rooms.

The hotel is in easy walking distance of the theaters and all the other downtown attractions, including restaurants to suit all tastes. In the lobby is a collection of menus from many local eateries, so you can check out the options ahead of time. It's great to be able to leave your car at the hotel and not worry about finding parking in the downtown area.

* free laundry facilities for guests
* lockers for skis and other large items
* a computer with Internet connectivity for guest use
* a very comfortable guest lounge where an extensive continental breakfast is served every morning and coffee and tea are available all day
* a consistently pleasant and helpful staff
* cable TV in all rooms; VCRs in some of the suites

A word of warning: during the popular summer season, it can be even more difficult to get a reservation at the Stratford Inn than to get a theater ticket, so book well in advance if you're coming to Ashland in the summer months.
