Columbia Cliff Villas, Hood River

I am limited to 500 words, so I apologize if I don't go into detail about my girlfriend and my Valentine experience at the Columbia Gorge Hotel.

1. I was assured 3 different times by 3 different people that my room was completely paid for prior to arrival as the hotel typically requires 100% depost for room reservation...upon checkout this was not the case, which led to great confusion and embarassment.
2. The hotel smells faintly of mildew/dog/fish in the entry and in the stairwell.
3. Champagne/Caviar at the social hour is surely meant for immature palettes.
4. Did not receive any bell service.
5. Had to change rooms prior to checking in because of being misinformed by hotel staff of original reserved room's amenities.
6. Was humiliated and laughed at by front desk when calling after clogging toilet.
7. Hotel grounds are better at the Salish Lodge...Room and hotel's historic ambiance is better and cheaper at any McMenamins'.

PostScript: I sent a letter of complaint via US mail to the management of the Columbia River Gorge Hotel two months ago. I have still not received any response, and have resent the letter twice via e-mail since then ... not so much as an apology for the terrible experience that my girlfriend and I paid to endure. For this, if not for everything else listed in the above letter, demonstrates the poor customer service that the Columbia River Gorge Hotel has to offer.
