Shakespeare Shuttle Needed In The Summer
By Abby, 08/03/08
My husband, two children and I have been staying in these suites every summer since 1994, (when the hotel was known as Windmill Suites of Ashland), to attend the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. NOTE: The hotel is under new management now (2008) and there have been some changes. The greatest loss: NO MORE SHUTTLE BUS TO THE PLAYS! This seems like a bad business decision, because the shuttle service was so convenient and made staying so far away from the city center less of a problem (taxis cost $11 each way and trying to find parking near the theatre is difficult). The Best Western across the street (Windsor Inn) still has the shuttle. While the suites are still great (quiet, spacious, well-designed and clean) and the staff pleasant and helpful, not having a shuttle is a pain. I hope the owners will bring the service back. Also, if you have young kids, you should know that as of August 2008 the pool is closed and they no longer give out chocolate chip cookies upon check-in.

Great for families!
By CO, 07/22/08
The property was gorgeous and incredibly quiet and peaceful. We were on a road-trip so we only stayed one night, but we got a fantastic night's sleep! The staff was friendly and helpful. We feel it was a great value and we would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. We have a 2 year old, so the suite worked really well for giving us a seperate sleeping room.

It's a good deal!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/08
Close to skiing. It could use a remodel, but has been well-maintained. The indoor hallways offer security, and unless you are unlucky to be next to wild partiers, it is fairly quiet.

Mixed review

We have stayed here several times. This time it was the off-season, and the place was almost empty. They have been renovating and changing the name. The place is very nicely landscaped and the rooms are well appointed. The service is very good. The breakfast is a disappointment: they deliver coffee, juice and packaged muffins to your door, and the little containers of half and half were sour (yuck!). The location is on the far side of Ashland, away from the restaurants and shopping, so you have to drive to get to the center of town, but it's very quiet.

no such thing as a "lost & found"
By PeterR, 08/22/07
Stayed for 2 nights recently, realized I left my digital camera on the chair in the room & called a few hours after leaving. "nothing was turned in". I called back within 5 minutes to offer a "reward" if the camera was returned. This clerk didn't understand & just "filed" a report. So, Either housekeeping found & kept it OR housekeeping didn't really clean well (as was evidenced by the used coffee supplies) & was found by the next guests. The "customer service" suggested I file a police report in Ashland & have "polygraph tests done". Hmmm, think they've done this before???? Stayed at the Best Western Windsor Inn across the street, on the return trip, it has bigger rooms, nice breakfast & was less expensive!!!

Would stay again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/07
We really enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable, rooms were very spacious, service was excellent, and the hotel was quiet. Everything was clean and well-stocked. The fridge was an appreciated touch. We opted for the breakfast "room service" which was at no additional cost. It arrived precisely and the requested time. The coffee was hot and delicious. Our balcony didn't have chairs, which would have been a nice touch. Since Ashland is a pretty popular town, it would have been nice to have a "Things to do in Ashland" guide that could have highlighted resturants, places to see, and things to do type of information. The only complaint, which made the difference between 4 and 5 stars was that we couldn't cool down our room enough. The AC had a built in switch that would shut it off. Although we visited in March, the room was pretty warm at night.

This is the place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/06
The Windmill Inn is more like a hotel than a motel. The grounds are landscaped and lovely with plenty of free activities available to guests. Our room had a coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. The room was really quiet, and that was with a hoard of teenagers staying in the rooms beneath us. The staff is friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was above-and-beyond that offered in most motels. It's a ways from town, but that's it's only drawback.

Really good value, beautiful location, views, swimming pool. A little bit of a walk to town but worth it for the quiet and the quality of ammenities.

As cliche as it sounds... two thumbs up!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/05
The "complimentary breakfast" was above and beyond what I've been trained to expect from hotels; instead of the standard bagels and jam, I was presented with plate-sized waffles hot of the grille. I was also more than satisfied with the spa, which was a nicely sized, deep one, and the pool. I wasn't actually able to go in the pool, but it looked like it was in good condition, from what I saw. The rooms were also very satisfactory - the water pressure in the shower, which I almost never am happy with in hotels, was all that I could ask for, and we made full use of the microwaves. Finally, I reccommend that you make full use of the tennis courts; the rackets and balls are complementary.
