Good Place if You Don't Plan on Leaving
By , 10/23/08
The staff at the Vernon Manor go out of their way to provide you with everything you need and their pleasant as well. The area surrounding the hotel leaves much to be desired. I'm used to urban areas so it didn't bother me to see a man and woman fist fighting across the street from the nearby tennis courts. It did bother me, however, when I went to take my nephew to Childrens Hospital and found that my car window had been smashed and my GPS, Radar Detector and credit cards were stolen. My car was parked in their fenced in patrolled lot! Still, it wasn't safe. The hotel's restaurant is expensive and leaves alot to be desired. There is nothing to do, once you're in the hotel, i.e., no amenities. Only the staff rates 5 stars and the Cincinnati Police Dept rates 10 stars!

Awful is the word
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/07
The rooms are big but old. The linen is like years old, drinking glasses are not clean. The neighborhood is bad, real bad. The hotel vending machines don't work, so if u get hungry after 9pm, God Help you; coz the staff would not. They care less.... They advise you to go out n find a store for urself.... Awful awful place... Not recommended at all....

Best Hotel in Cincinnati
By Nancy, 06/30/07
This hotel is the best in Cincinnati. Each room is unique and very lush. The staff is wonderful and make you feel like you are really special. They provide transportation to the University of Cincinnati and to the Airport if you need one. They are only a few blocks from the University of Cincinnati. Their rates are reasonable with lush accomodations.

Historic and Nice
By Susan W, 04/19/06
This is not a "cookie cutter" hotel. All the rooms are different and distinctive. This one of the most unique hotels I have ever experienced. Rarely does a hotel have such a homey feel. The staff is very accomodating, whether you are at the bellman's station, the front desk, or the bar. The staff always seems to be as one, like "a family". The Vernon Manor is located north of the downtown area, but the free shuttle service is a major plus. And the staff is very knowledgeable about all aspects of Cincinnati.

Nothing Special, Like an Old Apartment.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/05
This hotel is located in a bad area of town. People living in this area, look like they have hard times. Homes are in bad shape. Try not to park your car in the dark. We came to register our child for the University. We won't stay here again. Campus police warn theft is high, we are East of the Campus, 6 blocks away. The hospital is not far away, each night we heard sirens. Not sure if it was the police or fire trucks? Our room is large, windows are tall and old, small T.V. inside a large entertainment center. No microwave, no refridgerator, no central air, no safe, no swimming pool, no free breakfast. Radiators for heat, airconditioner in window. There was what we think fingernail polish on our pillowcase. Beds were remade the next morning with the same sheets and same pillowcases. Coffee is in between the lobby and the front outside door. There are 2 men standing and watching you make your coffee. They watched us make 2 trips to carry our luggage in and out, without getting a door or offering a cart on wheels. We found out they had a cart when we were already leaving, and I had suggested they should purchase a cart. They have one in a closet that you can't see. There is a frat house across the street and they were having a large party outside. We saw a midget man carrying sticks out of a pile of bricks that once was a house. The campus listed 2 hotels to stay at while in town for orientation and this was one of them. Must be the location to the Campus. The parking lot is small, get back before dark or you may have to park in the dark behind the hotel. The two men inside the front door must think they are something fancy because they sure do hold their noses high up in the air. Do they get paid to just stand there? They don't even say hello and they are not busy parking any cars.

A home within a city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/05
The tasteful decor, cleanliness, and polite service made us feel at home. The atmosphere was pleasantly non-commercial. We also enjoyed the quietness. The hotel is a bit difficult to reach through congested traffic, but once inside, the city rush and racket seemed far away.

Fabulous!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/05
My husband and I loved the Vernon Manor Hotel. It was classy, clean, the staff were all wonderful, and it was extremely close to Bogarts where we were seeing a concert. Not to mention the band stayed at the same hotel! The Sunday brunch was exquisite and well-worth the price. We will definitely go back.
