We will stay again!
By Uber, 4/1/10
We used "Priceline" to get the room at a great price! Priceline had the Hotel rated @ 3.5 stars...I would say that was generous..more like 2.5 stars. Having said that, the room was clean & staff was nice and helpful. The free shuttle was a nice "plus" as well. I would recommend this Hotel to friends..If you can get a deal on the rate.

THEFT FROM ROOMS! DIRTY! NOISY! AWFUL!
By DefraudedHomeOwner, 10/22/09
I will never stay in a DoubleTree hotel again. They provide poor customer service, do not hire responsible employees and then do not take responsibility for the actions of their employees, and do not properly clean or maintain their rooms. We were in Cleveland for my dad's heart surgery at Cleveland Clinic. While going through that traumatic experience, both my sister and I had items stolen from our rooms by the hotel's housekeeping staff on two different days. I had some cosmetics stolen--disturbing but not terribly costly--but my sister had a diamond bracelet stolen from her room. She filed a police report. The hotel insurance company denied both claims, despite the fact that no one entered our rooms except the hotel housekeeping staff—and they know that’s true based on their room key access check. If having our things stolen wasn’t bad enough, we also had dirty rooms that were badly maintained. For example, on the first day, there was a hair band with blond hair stuck in it lying on the desk in my room. My mother dropped something on the floor and had to pull up the bed skirt around her bed to find it; it was filthy all around the edge of the bed--disgusting! Housekeeping did a very poor job of cleaning and refreshing the rooms on a daily basis, as, for example, most of the time none of us had clean water glasses after the first day. I guess they were too busy rummaging through our belongings and deciding what to steal to actually do their jobs. My room was also in very bad repair, including a closet that was falling in at the top, and a shower diverter that did not work and instead directed most of the water into the tub rather than out the shower head during a shower. My parents’ sink had no stopper, so my mother had to be very careful about taking off jewelry, lest it fall down the sink drain. The bathrooms, by the way, are extremely small—too small for two people. We had other issues with the hotel during out stay. For example, one night, the hotel left us all standing in front of the hospital in the cold, waiting for the shuttle that they said they would send to take us back to the hotel. When we finally called to find out where they were, they said they were too busy to come get us, so we had to take the bus and walk six or seven blocks, late at night, after spending a long day with my dad in the ICU. We constantly had trouble with our access cards, including not being able to get in and out of the garage and sometimes not being able to get into our rooms. The hotel staff never even so much as apologized for the inconvenience. After my dad was discharged from the hospital, he had to stay in Cleveland for a while. They ended up having to be there in the hotel while a Browns game was going on that weekend. The stadium is just a few blocks from the hotel. My mother had to call hotel security to get people in nearby rooms quieted down at 3:00 in the morning. People were literally screaming down the halls of the hotel. All in all it was a terrible experience. The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is that the beds were comfortable. However, considering the overall uncleanliness of the rooms, I doubt the beds were sanitary enough to be slept in.

awesome ceexperien
I like the hotel lcation its very close to the rock and roll hall of fame. e They are just behind the hotel. We have a great time. The hotel and the room itself is very nice and decor is very modern. I also loved the services including the welcome cookie once you check in. Plus they have service transport around the city. The parking is outrageous but if you are staying over the weekend the parking outside is free and other nearby location just charge between 7-9 dollars. Cleveland is a ghost city in the weekend, malls are not great.Theres nothing much to see except for the rock and roll don tmiss it!!!!!overall stay in the hotel is good beyond expectation.

Great Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/09
Our group got the Rock & Roll Museum package. Great Deal! Everyone was friendly, from the front desk to the housekeeping employees. The shuttle service was great for our group, the drivers offered many good suggestions on restaurants. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable and a good breakfast in the morning.

Will never stay again!
By Brownsgirl, 11/12/08
This hotel was a mess! My sister and I booked a room before the Browns game that night. After waiting an hour in downtown Cleveland traffic (not the hotels fault, I realize!) we waiting another 30 minutes in line for the parking garage that is attached to the hotel only to be told that the garage was full! They made a point of asking if I was staying at the hotel, and even took down my license plate, but did not have a space for me because they had sold all the spots to people not staying in the hotel! The girl working told us that there was a garage next door that we could park at (not really, it was across the street!) so we had the pleasure of dragging our luggage across downtown Cleveland in heavy traffic! Once we got to the hotel we were greeted by HEAVY construction being completed inside. I am not faulting the hotel for upgrading, but WOW! Lights were hanging by wires, dirt was everywhere, and the elevators were so scary that me and my sis took the stairs to our 7th floor room. The hotel staff was very slow, but polite. According to the other guests we talked to, our room was on a remodeled floor, so we were lucky. Our room was nice, beds were comfy and we had a flat screen tv. We did order room service in the morning (a treat we always give ourselves when we are away) and the food was HORRIBLE! No way I will ever spend $200.00 again on a night in a hotel this sad!

Better than what I expected!!!!
By Coa-Coaa, 9/4/08
I thought that the Hotel was going to be okay but I was wrong. It was very nice. We stayed two nights and three days. We arrived at night so I didn't notice how nice the hotel was but the rooms till the morning. The rooms looked like a 5 star hotel room IM SERIOUS. We we woke up that morning, we looked outside and the view was great. We walked around the hotel to see more and it was great. I never been in a hotel where you can use the computer internet and copy and fax machine at your own risk. The outside of the hotel was beautiful. We was even able to work out and shot pool if we like to and to just relax in the hot tub. It's a great hotel and very affordable. I really believe that you get more for your money. I enjoyed telling people that I stayed at the Holiday Inn Select City Center Lakeside for a weekend.

Request the remodeled floor!
The 1st time I was there, my room was an old room and I agree with the other reviews, it was dirty. I set the coffee pot down on the sink and it left a nasty black ring. The mattresses were unsupportive and crushed. However, the TV had lots of channels. The 2nd time I stayed there I requested a room on one of the remodeled floors and had a much better experience. Although the room was small and I had to maneuver my suitcase around, the appointments were luxurious and pretty. It's still loud though outside, I think there's a train that runs by and loud elevator doors. The 2nd room was much cleaner, but it had only been in use a few weeks.

Typical Holiday Inn - Mediocre
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/08
4/8 to 4/11/08: The facility was being renovated, the odor of paint could be smelled in many areas. The main restaurant was closed, but the bar area was serving the "full" (limited) menu. Poor wine selection. The door for the first room I was given would not open, then when someone arrived with another key, the room was not even cleaned yet and this was after 5PM. I was given another room, which was actually clean, except for an old large stain on the carpet. My room key stopped working on the second day and had to be replaced. Hallways were shabby looking. Workmen would frequently use the elevator to transport their supplies. Onsite parking was $16/day.

Needs a good cleaning.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/8/07
We booked this hotel through Hotwire to attend a game at the Jake. The room was dirty. There was hair and other stuff all over the bathroom floor. There were spills all over the walls. The mattress were terrible. I know they are going through some renovations but come on. Our room looked nothing like the rooms they were advertising in the elevator. Just dingy! Staff was very nice up until the time they found out we were Red Sox fans. We visited the hotel the night of game 5.
