Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/23/09
I thought I was saving money by staying here instead of our usual hotel. Unfortunately only 1 of 3 courtyard hot tubs was actually working. The one in the pool area was colder than the pool. Both the regular pool and baby pools were too cold to be comfortable. The water in the baby pool was so murky that you could not see the toys on the bottom of the pool. Our blanket was covered with something crusty. The hotel staff did bring us another blanket but refused to discount our stay. Their front desk personnel told me we already had a discounted rate when we had paid the regular price for the room.

BEST HOTEL EVER
By VictoriaT, 04/04/09
I have never been to a better hotel in my life. The staff was unbelievably friendly. The front desk especially made an impression on us. They were very polite and very helpful when it came to questions. The whole place was SPOTLESS, including the breakfast area. The options at breakfast were numerous and they were all delicious, especially the waffles. The pool area was great and I fell in love with the hot tubs. I just want again to say that the front desk staff was amazing. So polite and just great over all. We had a great time at The Road King Inn and would suggest that anyone who is going to Grand Forks North Dakota should stay there.

Horrible, horrible stay!!
By NDtraveller, 03/23/09
The customer service at this hotel is absolutely unacceptable. They are very unprofessional and rude at the front desk. The staff is very unaccomodating for groups of people, and we were treated horribly. We were also awoken at 4:30am by fire alarms that were not turned off for a very long time, and continued to go off randomly for the next 2 hours. We had lukewarm-cold showers one of the mornings. The cleanliness of the hotel was less than desireable in the main areas as well as the rooms. The pool area was not very clean and the hottubs were not working properly. There are much nicer and friendlier hotels in Grand Forks to stay at than this one!! (I only put a star for service and cleaniless because there was not an option to leave them blank--otherwise they'd not have gotten any stars!!)

Worst stay EVER!!
By Christina, 03/22/09
Staff were rude, beds were awful. 1 hot tub was closed for repair, 2 were dirty and didn't have enough water. A staff went into the pool area and yelled at the children (4 to 10yrs old) for being to noisy but wouldn't approach all the parents who were sitting around watching. A fire alarm woke us early Saturday morning which was poorly handled by the front desk staff (they also didn't know how to silence it so the alarm rang for an extended period of time). The lights were turned off both Friday and Saturday night in the pool/atrium area without a warning while children were still swimming. Housekeeping did a terrible job cleaning the rooms, coffee supplies were not replenished, only one of 2 beds made and on a final room inspection a dirty sock and a wrist band left by previous guest(s) was found. I have never stayed in such a horrible place. Staff needs training in Customer Service and cleanliness!

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/09
We stayed in August. Front desk staff was less than impressive. Then were billed for a stay in October when we were not there! Our credit card company went to bat for us. They, like us, could get no response from the management. Our charges were dropped. We will never stay there again.

We'll Be Back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/03/07
First time in Grand Forks, so looked on the internet and chose the Roadking during the week. Rates were great, and rooms were clean, and spacious. Free continental breakfast was great with excellent orange juice, toast, wafflles, etc. One front desk clerk needed an attitude adjustment, but others were just great. Great location, and we thought it was a very nice stay.

By andy, 06/26/07
we stayed at this property last year , with only 2 hot tubs out of 4 working,, , this year our stay was ok for the room,, but we wanted to use ammenities like pool hot tub,,, needless to say out of 4 hot tubs the jets only worked on two,,,and the cleanliness of the working 2 were just horrible,,,i told the desk clerk that the tubs were filthy,, and that i would rather use my toilet at home,, before i put any part of my body in there hot tub,, the room was clean, i give them that,,,,i will never stay there again,,

I'll try somewhere else...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/07
The front desk clerk was very rude and didn't look like he wanted to be there. The price was reasonable but a hotel without customer service is not worth staying. It's a good option if you just need a bed for the night but I wouldn't stay there any longer than that.

Never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/06
We rec'd a free night because we had a terrible time the first time we stayed there in May/06. The second time in Nov/06 was even worse. The rooms were not cleaned in 3 days. We had no toilet paper and the front desk staff were rude. NEVER AGAIN!

We'll be BACK!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/06
First of all, Thank you for the complimentary continental breakfast and 24-hour coffee/tea, that alone keeps us coming back! We are REALLY glad it is now non-smoking, and are very impressed by the new carpeting , tiles and furniture in the rooms....looks and smells clean. Keep up the Great Work! The only thing I would change is the amount of towels in each guest room. I would add a couple more bath towels. It is annoying when you're soaking wet from the pool and there are none, because they are all in the dryer. We had this happen 2 nights in a row, and my daughters were cold and uncomfortable as a result. One solution would be that between the hours of 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm there should be more staff to keep up with the towel supply and demand, or simply have more towels in stock for pool area only. Overall had a really good experience and will recommend to family and friends. Hope to be back soon.
