10 reviews for Holiday Inn Biltmore East, Asheville
gross hotel....NO continental breakfast...
By Aly, 02/04/10
Upon entering our room and removing my shoes I immediately noticed that the floor was very sticky...totally nasty...the chair was also old and ratty. The wall lamp was fashioned from antlers which is reminiscent of some of the roach motels from the 60's. There was a curly nose-hair type thing in the sink. No indoor pool...which would be fine if there was some kind of continental breakfast to make up for it but when I woke up at 8:30 am and walked out to the lobby, I was informed that they offer NO continental breakfast AT ALL due to the fact that "we have a restaurant." This restaurant charges ten bucks per plate for breakfast. Also the power in our room kept shutting off so we were in complete darkness at least twice... and on one occasion called the desk to inform them of the outage and sat in darkness for another 10 minutes before calling back, and THEN, as if she had disregarded the first call, the gal at the desk was like oh, we'll send someone to turn the breaker back on. If we hadn't called back they totally would've ignored our first call. The hotel is dirty, overpriced for the poor quality and lack of amenities, and not a good choice... Do yourself a favor and stay at the other holiday inn express nearby... the one with the awesome HOT breakfast... for around the same price.... This place is dump. BTW I am usually not a nit-picker and pretty easy to please so this review should be a sign that this hotel SUCKS.

Dishonest Thieving Staff
By James, 11/02/09
Location was fine and the hotel appeared clean enough. However on check out, a rather expensive coat was left hanging in the closet. We called once we realized, six hours later, to be told nothing was turned in and to call back. It took several more calls, receiving no help on their end, to find out the coat was long gone. No doubt one of their cleaning staff will be warm and looking nice this winter. Hope they needed it. Check your room twice unless you're in the giving mood.

Don't judge a book by its cover
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/28/09
When we first drove up to the hotel we were a bit skeptical because it's a pretty old hotel. However, as soon as we walked in we immediately changed our minds. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the place was very clean. Our room was a nice size and very clean. We put up a "do not disturb" sign since we were only there for two nights, and they still left us clean towels outside the door and a note saying they were available by phone if they wanted us to come and clean the room. We were very happy with the service! Also, it's just a few minute drive to downtown and Blue Ridge Parkway. The only thing I have to say is the pillows were so awful that it kept both of us up, so bring your own pillows.

Loved It.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/08
We loved this hotel. This staff was awesome. Every staff member we talked to could give us directions on how to get places and great recommendations. The lobby area had games, the computer and complimentary tea, coffee and cookies all day. The room was nice. We were freeway friendly to downtown Ashville and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Take Along Your Pet!!!
By Ellen, 03/24/08
As recent retirees, this was our first time going and coming from NJ to Florida for an extended stay. On our trip down we stayed at a motel which called itself 'pet friendly'. The motel was absolutely terrible. It was so dirty and even had mold growing in the bathroom area. Our way back took us to Holiday Inn -- what a difference!!! The room was immaculate. Everything sparkled and shined - and you could have eaten off the bathroom floor. What a pleasure to be there. The front desk could not have been more courteous ...explaining pricing, where to park and where to walk our pet. We loved it and the only other thing I could have wished for was a continental breakfast...but everything else was so perfect, it more than make up for the lack of one. We will surely book here again when we travel to Asheville to visit our daughter who lives there. Ellen - New Jersey

Overpriced, dirty & rude staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/07
Compared to other Holiday Inns, zero out of 10 rating. Dried out muffins, no coffee, minimal fruit. When asked for more coffee told they "didn't handle that." No elevator for elderly or disabled. Asked for more towels & told "they couldn't give out more." Minimal handicapped parking & minimal parking overall. Charged $171 for double room. Take lessons from the Oxford, AL & Dillsboro NC Holiday Inns. Will never stay at this flophouse again.

EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/06
This hotel may be a little older than some of its newer neighbors, but it makes up for it in service and price. My impression based on our stay (6/23/06-6/25/06): Location: Right off I-40, so it took us about 3-5 minutes to get to downtown, the Biltmore Estate, etc. Located on Tunnel Road which is full of dining and shopping (Asheville Mall, etc.). Cleanliness/Comfort: Bed was extremely comfortable and room was clean. Only downside was the carpet in our room had been shampooed and was damp (slightly) in spots. However, I liked this cause it let me know they had at least cleaned the carpet. Very nice bathrooms with granite walk in showers. Service - Front desk and restaurant staff were very friendly and nice. Could not have asked for better. Value - The best part was we paid $289 plus tax for two nights and got 2 Biltmore tickets ($85-90 value), breakfast coupon for 2, and a full color Biltmore guide. The breakfast was excellent and we had 3 people and our meal cost about $10 more each day than the ticket said we were allotted but the restaurant staff did not charge us a thing! I calculated the actual cost of the rooms coming in at around $75 dollars a night which is awesome!!! Other things worth mentioning: Pool outside is very nice and well landscaped as is the entire hotel. Very quiet location. Far enough away from shopping and all. Great views of the Smokey Mountains. Pet friendly.

Wouldn't recommend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/12/06
Terrible service fromthe front desk to accounting to the Asst. General Manager. I arrived on Jan. 1 on a prepaid reservation. The front desk seemed to be unaware of the fact I prepaid. I was given a key and then tracked down to tell me that there were no King bed-smoking rooms clean yet and it would ONLY be 45 minutes or so!!! Checkin time is 3 pm. I arrived at 3:35 pm. I had my lunch, husband and 55 lb. dog with me and she seemed to think that it was no big deal to sit in the foyer, eat and wait. After a confrontation, she said "I think you're making a big deal from this". After arguing she finally made the decision to call housekkeping to have my room cleaned immediately. This is what she should have done to start with. Then the hotel charged my card again for my visit on the regular rate and had to call and speak to the Asst. Gm to have it fixed. I told her my experience, she said "OH, and now this with your credit card." Very overrated hotel- terrible customer service.

Great place looking to go back soon.
By pe2be, 09/26/05
Great location right next to the BRP and close to downtown. Planning my next trip soon and looking to stay here again. Nothing better than a days drive on the BRP to the Smokey Mountains and come back to the hotel for some relaxation.
