Not for people who use wheelchairs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/27/11
I liked the bed. I didn't like the fact I had to share it with my son and my mother had to sleep on the dredful pull out couch. I called the hotel directly when we booked the hotel. We had stayed there many times when it was a Holiday Inn. My son uses a power wheelchair and many of the rooms have a 3-4 inch step. We arrived at the hotel late. First thing off, the keys didn't work and then I noticed the step. I went back to the front desk and was told there were no rooms with 2 beds that he could get in. We were given a "handicapped accessible" room. There was no parking. My son was able to enter the room after cruising around to the other side of the building where there was a ramp to the sidewalk. It was a good thing he did not need to take a shower. They did not have a drive in shower. There was a bath seat but he could not use that. I would never recommed this hotel to any one

Won't go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/08
First off, we couldn't find the remote to the TV--it never turned up. As I journeyed into the bathroom I was greeted by streamers of hair flowing from the hairdryer's fan. There were very few accessible outlets to plug in my computer for wireless internet, but it turned out that didn't matter because the wireless internet didn't work in the room anyway. We went to the hotel lobby where there was one computer and a line 4 people long. Pro: Nice to have a refrigerator, good location...

I can't ever get good a/c
By AriesGirl, 5/23/07
This place was ok though I requested a 1st floor room because I was alone with my dog and didn't get that. no interior stairways or elevator. I reported the air conditioner that didn't work well enough in 80 degrees. I left my do not disturb on the door while I was in class but at night 2 nights in a row I took the dog with me for 2 hours and the room was never cleaned. The first night the cleaning woman saw me get in the car because th laundry was in the same section of the bulding and their doors are always open. I didn't think I should have to call and request for the room to be cleaned. Be wary of the restaurant, I ordered takeout and they didnt give me my drink or ketchup for fries. One morning I got breakfast and sat in front of the kitchen intentionally and it took them a while to notice me and I was finished for 10 minutes with my plate pushed away before I had to ask someone else for the ticket because I has to leave for class. They also burnt half my toast and that was all I got. Being familiar with Durham but not CH I was concerned about the hotel being at a 5 road intersection across from a shopping center.

Great UNC Hospital Hotel Stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/06
First, the location is fantastic to UNC Children's Hospital and all UNC Hospitals on Manning Drive. You only make two easy turns from the parking lot of the Holiday and your there. Can't get any better than that for an out of town person, unless you use the Free Shuttle they also offer for your convenience. The rooms were very comfortable with very comfortable beds, linens, comforters, and many soft pillows. Can't go wrong there and how about their free complimentary gourmet coffee in the lobby plus your own fresh brew right in your room by the housekeeping replenished daily. Along with the warm heated pool. Away from the hospital made our experience a whole lot less stressful and made us feel welcome and as comfortable as possible during our medical stay in Chapel Hill. I would rate this hotel five stars.

Everything you could need!
By Kandyse, 2/2/06
This hotel was fabulous. It is very comfy. The front desk staff is absolutely wonderful! I travel a lot and I find that so many people have little to no personality, but here, I was blessed with a staff where every person was bright and bubbly and as friendly as can be. They gave complimentary bottles of cold water at arrival and departure, which I thought was very nice. There is also FREE wireless internet in all the rooms. The restaurant was closed for renovations but there was a free breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, sausage and grits in the morning. And for dinner they offer a FREE taxi cab to any restaurant in Chapel Hill. There's FREE coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby at all times. And there was FREE popcorn, and there was a lady in the lobby that they called an experience specialist that played a friendly game of black jack with the guests! All in all I was amazed and pleased. This was so fun, I would certainly come back!

Not bad
By JULIET, 2/1/06
The bed was not as comfortable as other hotels. The temperature in the room was to hot even with the heat turned off and to cold with air.

Great deal
By Mary, 8/17/05
The front desk staff were great. Friendly and helpful. The shuttle driver gave me a lot of good tips since I am considering relocating there. The location worked out great for me. It was close to a major highway and was convenient to everywhere I wanted to go in Durham and Chapel Hill. The pool was a nice plus since it was quite humid (4th of July). I had a comfy king size bed just for me. You can walk to a CVS and supermarket and there is a convenience store across the street. Ample soda machines on the grounds. Restaurant was under renovation so they set up free breakfast in a room off the lobby. It included eggs cooked to order, bagels, pastries, cereal and fruit. Free internet in the lobby but they only have one computer so sometimes you have to wait. This is not a super luxury hotel but had everything I needed. I got a great price on an internet site...half of the rack rate. I would definetely stay there again.

About "average" overall
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/05
Room was clean. No internet connections and the room air conditioner/heater was extremely noisy. Nice lounge and good appetizers. Also breakfast buffet was above average.
