High Country Inn, Boone

Left with no other options, we booked 2 rooms at this HORRIBLE place!! STAINED up bedding in one room, mold, spiderwebs, NASTY smell!!! Looked to be BLOOD STAINS on the underside of my spread!! Had to run to the store to get Febreez and candles for the smell and lysol wipes to clean up!! The girl working last night was VERY nice and apologized for everything. Here is out list for our 2 rooms: Stained bedding (changed) mold and mildew in the bathrooms, rolled up mags. holding fridge level, HORIBBLE SMELL!, carpet tacks sticking up that were stepped on, DIRTY sraitwells, no working lights in dark stairwells, no working ice machine, no fire sprinklers in seen AT ALL, water in tub would not turn off and the mantaince man would not come out because he decided to go hunting! My dad fixed it! Toilet would BARLEY flush, in the AM, NO HOT WATER in either room. Ended up not charging us for our 1st night, but when we called Credit Card, the said that the High country Inn had run the card 7 TIMES for 202.00!!! The rooms were to TOTAL about 400.00 for 2 nights!!! Girl at check out REFUSED to varify with the credit people that we were not being charged for the room!! Forced to CNCL the card as lost or stolen on the advice of the Credit Company!! If you have the option of staying here or on the street, the streets are WAY cleaner!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Left Boone anf headed to Burlington to a WONDERFUL Hampton Inn!! :o) All the positive reviews on this Inn must be from family or friends of the owner! We spoke to a number of people that were there as we were checking out and they all had the same problems!!!!! PA___LEASE!!!! Health Dept. needs to SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN!! I have pic, but couldn't seem to get them loaded!! Willing to share them or add them when possible. GGGGROSS!!!!!!!!!!

a really good deal, the kids loved the pool and workout room, the staff was friendly, i think it is avery good deal.

THey let people smoke in the pool area( which was closed in), the room was not clean looking, and I got bit by a spider while I was sleeping. Or atleast I think it was a spider...TOO pricey for what you fet, will NEVER go back, nor would I recomend.

Terribly filthy, smelly, stained, outdated.  Most things broken.  Price was jacked up on the weekend.  Will never stay again and will tell friends not to stay.

Me and 3 other people stayed the night there,and the beds were okay but there was no tissue over the lid of the toliet to prove some one cleaned it. It was stuffie in there so we turned on the air and the awfulest stinch you evey smelled was in that room. My sister went into the pool and got locked in and the door was broke and we had to go let her out. We told the ladie at the desk but she would not go do some thing about it. It was about 9:00 that night we went to eat a Geno's inside the hotel and they were not serving food any more even though the brosure says they were. When we got back a while later I got really sick with a sore throat and had to go get some medician and then my sister got really sick she took some medicain. Then the next day I started throwing up over 40x and ended up in and out of the hostipal and out of work for 5 days. My sister was out some to.I would not recomend this hotel to any one unless you want to get sick and end up in the hostipal for a while from them not cleaning there rooms very good. I'm not maiking this up, May God Bless You!

My family and I stayed over the weekend of May 2-4,2008. We weren't expecting a 5 star hotel, but we wanted a fun place to stay with out 2 childern. I stayed in the Appalachian Suite which was in fairly good shape, the carpet and bedding and bathroom area were clean and not to mention the jacuzzi was realaxing! my kids enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and the video games in the restaurant.Plus the free continental breakfast, which seemed to be remodeld since our previous stay. My family and i can't wait to be back this summer to enjoy the outdoor pool (which wasen't open yet when we last came up)! thanks again HCI!

Housekeeping was yet to be desired...they just took YOUR beding and through it onto the floor and walked "all" over it--including the pillows! The restaurant was full of drunks, and you couldn't go there to have dinner with the family; needless to say, management had no "control" over their guests--yelling and screaming throughout the early morning hours in their "DRUNKED STAGED!" Perhaps, if they cleaned cleaned up their establishment--I'd go back, but until then--No Way!

i will admit the hotel is older than most in town, but i enjoyed my stay the front desk staff was very helpful with getting around the city, it appeared that my room had new carpet, my family enjoyed the pool area and eating dinner at geno's, i just wish the room included "hot" continental breakfast, but the stay was overall good!

Looks good from the outside, nice little waterfall with ducks. Thought about sleeping in the car the room was so bad. Wall paper coming off of wall, tv from the 60's, ceiling tiles out of place, blanket on bed should have been replaced years ago. Continental breakfast offered would not have thought about eating it. Was in town for a conference, if I thought there was a chance we could have gotten another room we would have left. Might have been nice about 20 years ago.

The room floor was nasty, ceiling looked like it was falling in, moldings had big gaps between them, front door had about a 2" crack under it (so we had to put towels down to keep the cold air out), outlets were loose, both chairs were broke (had to be careful or you would fall out), exercise equipment did not work, vending machines did not work. Room service finally came by after 4 o'clock, did not do anything other than make up beds, we had to call for towels.
