Really dirty hotel, but amazing location.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/11
I went for New Years, and let me say the hotel rooms are tiny. Look unkept, and are dirty. Our first night we had to move rooms, we found a huge, and I mean huge roach in our bathroom all over my friends things. We didnt want to stay in the room after that of course. When the manager came up he offered us a complimentary breakfast the next morning, which we never received. He then said that it was a common thing, that even hotels like the Hilton had them too. Yeah right. If you wake up easily for the slightest noise, this hotel isn't for you. The walls are so thin you can hear everything. I do have to say the only thing I really loved about this hotel was the location. It's so close to all the tourist attractions. You could walk about three blocks to Time Square, One block to Central Park, and Time Warner Center, which also not to far from Strawberry Fields. Fifth Ave is close. We seriously not once took a cab, subway line is right there, we walked everywhere since there was no need when it was just down the street to get to Rockefeller Center etc.. but other than that dirty hotel and poor staff. If you can deal with that then go for it. I personally wouldnt stay there again. I would stay at the Ramada or Hilton near Time Square.

Only good thing was location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/10
Location is excellent, however the room was awful. We had a full size bed in a 100sq ft room. The heater was stuck on heat and we had to open the window. Unable to sleep because of the honking all night long with window open. The blinds would not close so we had rig it shut. The pillow was so old that even folded in half it didn't equal one regular sized. and you only got 2 pillows for the bed.

Great location, horrible accomodations.
By Ashley, 12/30/09
This hotel is convenient to Central Park and Times Square. There are many delis and cafes nearby so food is plentiful when hungry. However, the room was not worth the money spent. Bed was old and hard, just like sleeping on a boxspring with no mattress at all. Lots of loud noises in the middle of the night that come from the pipes and the thin walls, you can hear conversations in the next room easily. Bathroom was so small that I brushed my teeth while standing in the bath tub. Pass on this hotel, for a bit more money you can sleep easy in a clean hotel with a decent mattress.

Not very happy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/09
It's an old hotel, but there was really no excuse for the non-functional plumbing, the used amenities, and the hair stuck to the bathroom door. To their credit, the plumbing was fixed in 10 minutes, but when we complained about the cleanliness, and housekeeping came through again, they still didn't clean up properly. If you are already going to the City, choose a nice hotel - there are many in the neighborhood.

Location, location, location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/21/09
The location of the Wellington is absolutely spot on for travellers to New York. Only 5 minutes from Central Park and about 12 minutes to the centre of Times Square, it is ideal for first time visitors. The rooms are dated, I was in a very large 2 x double bedrooms, although not very bright, phone not working in one and light not working in the other, the bathroom was spotless, with a large bath and shower. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. The cafe attached was great for breakfasts and late night snacks. I travelled by myself and felt extremely secure. Price was on the high side, but, as stated at the beginning of this review - it is all to do with location, location, location.

Nice
By Kimmy, 1/16/08
I was there for a Business trip..and stayed at the Wellington for a whole week... The hotel was nice and clean, the service was adequate..can't complain..just wish the Hotel had a gym..so I could have goen to burn off some steam instead of walking all around NYC. :) Located in a nice area..not too far from Times Square.. Would stay there again....

Good Value for Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/07
I have read many of the reviews about The Wellington. It was our first trip to New York and we obviously knew the hotel would be old BUT our rooms were extremely clean! The location was excellent, the staff helpful and I fell very good value for money. Could have done with cups etc. in the kitchenette but with a Starbucks across the road not too much of a problem.

Excellent location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/07
The location itself is execellent whether your travel is business or pleasure. Me & my boyfriend has an amazing experience of all times. The minute we stepped in the hotel, we can't wait to roam around Time Square & its already 12:00 midnight(EST)& of course, we ate at Carnegie Deli w/c is steps away from the hotel. Though our room is small & the carpet is old, but overall, the service is prompt & the staff are friendly & very polite. Thanks Wellington Hotel... Its an unforgettable experience. I'd love to stay again.

me and my little girl
By King, 10/26/07
I read all the reviews before i booked this hotel. I wanted to take my 9 year old daughter on a trip here. i wanted to pick something close to everything and somewhat fair in price. So i would say that the location was 95% perfect. We arrive at the hotel at 7am and was able to check in (luckly) at 11am. they were doing construction to the hotel so alot of noise and dust during the day. I didnt really want a street view...so i got the brick room...kind of spooky watching everyone watching me in the windows hehehe. The room was small. but its ok because all i ever do is Sleep( bed was alright), Shower (alot of power), Change cloths (tiny closet !) Service was better than decent. If you dont like the Brits..then dont stay here. it seemed like everyone in there was british. I thought New Yorkers were RUDE..hehehe. all in all i might stay here again...but just on a boyz party weekend.

The Wellington was just a bit worn. But for the price and the location it was really a nice place to stay. You could do better But It would cost you a lot more. We really enjoyed the hotel
