No heat on the coldest day of winter
By Ccb, 1/5/12
I never write reviews but I think all should be warned!!! I'm so glad I only stayed here one night because I don't think I could have lasted another. My room temperature didn't reach anything above 64 degrees and my bathroom was so cold I could see my breath. How is the possible on the coldest day of winter no operating heater. On top of that there wasn't any additonal rooms I could switch into. I had to sleep in snow boots and my heavy outerwear jacket. Not fun when you have to brush your teeth in a hat and scarf.

Overpriced Badly Designed Hotel Room
By KAREN, 7/23/11
This is NOT a timeshare. It's just a badly designed hotel room. No comfortable place to sit, no refrigerator (just an overpiced minibar), there is a place for a desk but there is no chair because it wouldn't fit with the bed in the way and there is a small table but too small to work at. There are 3 drawers and a VERY small closet. It is not a room designed for a one week stay for 2 people. The "Club" room is very limited and the wine reception has rather low class wine. Everyone has their hand out for a tip ($4 to receive a package which you have to go to the 2nd floor to pick up). The elevators are slow. Endless solicitation to buy a timeshare here then the hard sell if you go to the pitch. Stay at a Marriott or Club Quarters you'll be better off, unless of course you just want the bragging rights of staying at the Hilton Club (for what that's worth).

Terrific Stay!
By M N, 3/29/10
My sister is a Club Member and we were on the 37th floor for our visit this past weekend. Our one-bedroom with living suite was fantastic! The bed was comfortable and even the pull-out sofa was terrific - they had just installed new ones! The hair dryer was a small wattage, but it kept me from having to pack one, so I was glad to have it in the room. The Club Room breakfast was great: yogurt, boiled eggs, pastries, fresh fruit and many dried cereals to choose from. I liked the Cocktail Hour from 5-7. They served one hot hors d'oeuvre and then 4 different cheeses, crackers, fresh fruit, pitas with hummus and wonderful vegetables and dips (blue cheese and guacamole). They also had plenty of wine (red, white rose) and bottled beers: Amstel Light and Heineken and maybe one other choice. I thought this was very generous and just enough to get us through our evening events (Chamber Magic at Waldorf Astoria one night and a lecture at NYU the next) so that we could have a later, leisure dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful! BTW, the Club Room has been remodeled so there is more seating. And, if you want plenty of food, don't complain if you get there at 6:45 and they don't have any fruit - if you truly need the snack, then get there early enough b/c there are some groups that come in and stuff themselves as if it is their dinner - which is not the intended purpose, of course.....I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone that wants to stay in Midtown in a convenient location.

Good location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/09
This hotel has a good location in midtown, only two blocks from Central Park and near shopping. We got a good deal I thought, considering we were in the heart of midtown NYC. The room was nice, clean. The bathroom had a small counter space area, so we had to juggle our toiletries, but I thought that was a minor complaint. It was also quiet, not alot of noise from the corridors or slamming doors. I would recommend this hotel.

Would not recommend...Stay elsewhere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/13/09
The hotel was nice for an "upity" hotel but not worth the price. Rooms were very small and we didn't have ANY hot water for even for 1 person to shower, let alone 3! Close to the theatre but not much else for children. Elevators were slow but the hotel was quiet. No room doors slamming or people talking in the halls(rooms were quiet) Not worth the money...stayed at nicer hotels. Did not spend much time in the room but we did not even have enough space for our bags. Nice view out our window. Stayed at nicer hotels, but we will return to NY, we will just stay at a different hotel next trip...We love New York!

Not again at these prices...
Not a good experience-bathroom way too small/no room for toiletries to speak of. When we checked into room, there were no comforters in the room for the bed, not enough hangers in closet, terrible view for the price, showerhead didn't work and overall dissatisfaction with the room. The hallway was dirty, too.

Fabulous hotel, great location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/11/08
We read reports about this hotel before our first visit to New York and quite frankly we were concerned as the reviews were not good. We found just the opposite. The hotel was in a fantastic location. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room we had was wonderful. We had plenty of space for all our luggage and shopping. The bed was so comfortable, just what we needed after a days walking. We used the local transport and the subway to get around but mostly travelled by foot, we found we saw more that way and it was an excellent way to walk off all the lovely food we had to eat. We found the New York people very friendly and helpful. We would definately stay there again. Thanks Hilton - we had a ball!!!!!

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/08
Friends and I chose this hotel recently for a theatre weekend. I have no problems with the location. The room was typical for NY City hotels. There were issues, though, that will prevent us from returning there: 1. We were not told that there was a convention going on at the hotel when we booked months ago. We had to wait several times up to 15 minutes just for an elevator to get down from our 36th floor room. Many people registered complaints about this. It caused some to miss meetings! There were similar waits going up, of course. 2. We had to pay $3.50 for each piece of luggage checked before registration. I have never had to pay for this service before. Outrageous. 3. The restaurants were fine (though crowded) and the food was fine, BUT the prices were triple what they are at other places. There is not a breakfast to be had that is under $25. $25 for waffles? 4. A housekeeper came to our door, and I requested extra towels. She wrote it down, but none ever came. 5. We were offered a complimentary happy hour up in the executive lounge, which turned out to be standing room only with tiny nibbles and water in styrofoam cups unless you ordered drinks. No, thank you. The whole place was freakishly crowded. Just not pleasant at all. WE had to wait up to 15 minutes in line just to get a taxi out front. I will find another place to stay next time I'm in New York.

Just Another Number (Mostly)
By Mich, 3/12/08
My flight landed in the morning and I wanted to get to the spa before heading to the Theatre that day. I was allowed to check-in early, one of the few blessings bestowed upon me there at that hotel. Location was central. Mammoth gargantuan sized hotel! They have this kiosk system for check in/out which was quick but I still miss the personal touches I'm used to getting when I get checked in by a human. I usually stay at full service hotels and have come to expect quite a bit from the hotels in the way of customer service so when it's a machine responding to me, there's nothing personal about that to increase my level of customer delight/satisfaction. The room was very large but it stops right there with the benefits. I was totally yucked out with the bathroom tile. Can you say "Tilex"? That was definitely not cool at all. The only really decent thing which happened there for me was after I checked out, the bellman/doorman was so very attentive. Realizing that I was a lady traveling alone, he hand-picked my taxi for me. It felt like my safety was his only concern at that point in time and, for me, that is a beautiful thing.

Mixed Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/8/08
The location is great but we were there for a conference and got a very small room overlooking the roof area and the heating was not working. The hotel was full according to the manager and they would not move us to another room. I had the same experience attending another conference during the summer with no air conditioning during a sweltering week. The management would not move us-same excuse. It does no good to be a Hilton Honors member at this one.
