Extremely expansive for something quiet shabby
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/09
Wonderful views of the mountains, lake on premises and trail will take your breath away, but the pictures are not what the hotel looks like now. Its old, it seems that nobody fixed it for 50 years and it needs it. Its way overpriced for the accomodations.

Total relaxation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/08
My daughter and I visited Mohonk in May 2007. We stayed for two nights. We enjoyed our stay more than words can say. The ambiance of this elegant resort is just what you need to beat the stress of daily life. The grounds, walking trails, spa, and meals were fantastic. The room may have been a bit dated but it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed yoga, meditation and a pilates class in the indoor pool. The spa services were top notch. We look forward to a return visit. I have a picture of the resort as my screen saver to remind me of one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life.

Memoriable Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/07
What I like: Place, Service, Program and much more. What I dislike: Rooms should be modern. Not affordable. However, the value is there. I really appreciate the place with value.

A Time and Place To Remember Love and Romance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/07
My husband and I are educators and we went to Mohonk in 1997 for our honeymoon (which had been delayed for 2 years due to my Mother's illness/death). From the moment we arrived, I found myself in a state of healing and feeling the comforts of love and romance at a difficult time in my life. We enjoyed dressing for dinner and dining under chandelier lighting, on hardwood floors...and the food was so satisfying--not once did our taste buds long for our love of "soul food"! We enjoyed plays, gazeboes, and romantic evenings overlooking a lake on the top of a mountain. The staff, the gardens, music, our room...everything was enchanting and beautiful. None of our vacations in Jamaica...the islands...New York City's prestigious "Mandarin Oriental Hotel"... compares to the ambience of "Mohonk"; The only time we have felt remotely close to our Mohonk experience was on broadway at "The Color Purple"! We're saving our return to Mohonk for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration! James & Janet Bradley Lake Wales, FL

excellent place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/06
Mohonk is an excellent resort and spa. Although it may seem pricey, when you add 3 excellent meals per day and all the free activities, it is really great. Spa was awesome. Book early and use the private area all day. Staff was good. Some minor issues but overall a great place. Room was a little tight after king bed was in place.

it's not about value
By Christopher, 3/1/06
mohonk mountain house is not for those individuals who are timid about paying $500.00 per night for a hotel room. (dbl. occ.) But if you can bring yourself to pay the price, you'll be in for a relaxing getaway without equal The food, grounds, staff and service are exeplary. It is the ultimate destination if your goal is to unwind and enjoy some quiet time.

Nostalgic Resort
If your looking for a throw back to a forgotten era the Mohonk resort in the town of New Paltz is for you. Great walking around the property at high elevation and can see possible eagle flight. A little musty but thats all in the charm of the place.

Unique experience
By PamelaH, 8/24/05
We visted Mohonk for a "Mystery Weekend" last fall. Being from the "other" coast, this was quite an experience for me. The house is HUGE and wonderfully unique. It has breathtaking views of the lake. I felt like I was transported back in time, expecting to see Victorian-clad sojourners traipsing down the endless hallways. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to stay there again, but I'm glad I got the experience. The rooms are large enough, but it is old and obviously hasn't been renovated. The service was very personable and we did feel spoiled at the restaurant. The breakfasts and desserts after dinner were scrumptous! If you've never been-GO!
