Howard Johnson Albany Central, Albany

What did I dislike? um...everything! I thought the lobby was tiny. But that was the great part. Our room smelt so bad it was nasty. Our floor was disgusting, the bathroom was gross, I would have went in the woods instead. Our sheets had stains on them and the pillows had holes. It was 1am when we got to our hotel. We live over an hour and a half away. The smell and grossness was so over powering that we drove all that way home...We didnt get home until alittle after 3 and we had to be up at 5. but it was worth it. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

Everything was awful - from the filthy room and toilet to the foul smell, paint patched doors and no maid service. We left one day early! The outside was falling apart and the outside walkways were filthy too. The air conditioner smelled and rattled all night. Drunks were looking for their rooms at night, half naked barefoot men smoking outside their rooms in the morning. Their "continental breakfast" was a joke. Disgusting kitchen, hostess donuts and bad coffee. When we brought our concerns to management, they were completely ignored! UGH!! Run, don't walk from this place. It's a dangerous dump.

The Frontdesk Staff could not have been any nicer, hopefully the Hotel maintenance dept will learn from them! I worked on the Railroad for several years, so I am used to living out of "Chep Hotels". It really took me back to those days when I closed the door, and I could see light around the door, and had to give it a few good slams before it would lock. The floors could have used a good detailed Vacuuming... But the Sheets were clean. The television selections in Albany are terrible... if you don't want to watch the news, baseball (Red-Sox, Mets, Yankees), or possibly if your lucky... Tennis or Bowling... Then you better bring a DVD Player with you, because Somehow Network Shows that I watch at home, didn't seem to exist on Albany Television... The Continental Breaksfast was limited, Muffins, Bread, Possibly Donughts, Bananas (Which where turning black by Friday, Raisen Bran, and if you could get to the (1 Lonley iron)... Waffles. A major problem was that most of the food was already disappearing by 7:30AM, not sure if they refilled it or not, but things were getting low fast. My largest issue with the Hotel, was not actually the Hotel itself, but the Guests! I couldn't see it, but I believe that there was a sign somewhere that stated "White Trash and Truckers Encouraged to Stay with us". There were ADULTS sitting on the entranceways/sidewalks, just outside of my window, sitting in lawn chairs for hours drinking beer, and smoking.... Now that's not to say that I wasn't at the Bar having a few myself, but I didnt bring a six pack home, light up, and booze in front of anyones room...

A friend and i had to get to albany for a construction meeting and would be arriving late in the evening. I booked a room here and when we arrived the room smelled like someone had died in it. It was too late and we were too tired to look elsewhere. Fortunately i carry a bottle of fabreeze in my truck and used half of it just so we could sleep. NEVER AGAIN

The hotel was attractive from the front but our rooms were in the back and it was clear that the hotel was under construction. I smashed my thumb trying to open the vent to turn on the air conditioner(not in good working order). The air conditioner omitted a stale odor. The rug was not clean. The linen smelled sweaty. The bathroom floor was not all that clean. The toilet seat needed to be replaced. The water was rusty even after letting it run a period of time and I felt very uncomfortable about that. The staff was very courteous but I just could not get past the problems with the room.

This hotel was truly an experience. When we opened the door, a foul smell assaulted us. We turned on the light and the lampshade had a huge hole in it. The air conditioner was very noisy and rattled throughout the night. The radio also emitted a high pitched almost morse-code sound at no discernible intervals and the plug was behind the bed so that we couldn't unplug it. Between the radio and air conditioner, sleep was almost impossible. The rug was filthy and the table sticky. Not a place I would recommend!

I was not at all impressed with this hotel. There was an odd smell that permeated the room. There were iron marks on the rug. My blanket had a burn hole in it and the pillowcase had stains. The toilet bowl did not flush the way it should. The air conditioner was very noisy and kept me awake most of the night. All in all, I did not enjoy staying at this particular Howard Johnson.
