LOCATION! SERVICE! SUPER CLEAN! MARGARET the concierge, was absolutely wonderful when I called her before our stay (with questions & a few concerns). I checked out ALL the hotels that I could use MARRIOTT POINTS for and decided due to location and other comments that this hotel would be best. We are SO GLAD we did. Room sizes are not bad for a NYC hotel. We asked for (and received) a quiet room high up. The bed was VERY comfortable! Staff was VERY nice -- every person!! You can WALK to Grand Central , another train station a block or so away, St Pat's Cathredral, PLUS a wonderful Greek Med place to eat around the corner. We were literally train virgins but Margaret printed out EXACTLY what to do and we had no problem getting around this incredible city. WE are PICKY PICKY -- if that helps! A cool thing we found out is that the HISTORY of this hotel is incredible! We'll let that be a surprise for you to discover. Plus, it is across the street from the famed Waldrof Astoria---

We first tried this property by using our Marriott checks through Master Card, but out experience was so positive that we returned. The location is very convenient, the hotel(especially the lobby) has a very club-like atmosphere, the staff is always very helpful, and the rooms are comfortable(a plus in any large Marriott where we have stayed.)The area abounds in wonderful restaurants and sightseeing. We can't wait to return to New York and to the Marriott Eastside.

The Marriott E.S. is very conveniently located. Our room was spotless, the beds absolutely fantastic! The concierge (James) is very knowledgeable and efficient. The Shelton Grille offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast($25 all incl.)with great choices. The bar-cafe in the lobby is open at 6 am. The lobby would benefit from new furniture. We would go again and recommend this hotel to our friends.

I liked the style of the hotel Art Deco style. I did'nt have a great view but the view from the fitness area was fantastic.

A great place to stay, convient to Park and 5th ave's. Easy subway ride to anywhere else in the city you may want to go. Loved the beds. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable Plan to stay again on our return trip next year (2007)

I really loved all of the eclectic touches this wonderful hotel had. Even the elevators are like the classic 40's ones. The concierge�s desk was very helpful in finding places to eat as well as great deals on shows. The location is just next to the NBC building. All of the amenities were outstanding. Me an my best friend stayed there for a girls weekend in NYC and had so much fun even just drinking in the hotel bar. By far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed.

This was a beautiful hotel. It was quite a bit of money but if you can afford it and you really want a hotel which is elegant this is the place to be.

Close enough to most places to walk and yet not too close to the busy places like Times Square.Most places were walking distance.We walked up and down Madison Square,to the MOMA, and even to the theatre and Times Suqare. We enjoyed the welcome we received everytime we came in . The cold lemonade in the lobby in the afternoons was excellent touch.(New York was very hot during our visit).The first room we got had a good view;the next room showed the wall to another building. Rooms were a little tight tho(that may be because it is in New York. We had to call several times to get the cot that was promised.The cot was not too durable -it folded in the middle of the night and woke everybody in the room.

As a first time customer of this hotel (Marriott East Side) I am writing to give some feedback. My husband and I were staying at your hotel for our Anniversary. First, our hotel bathroom did not have a fan - the basic non-smoking king rooms are not that large and to not have a fan in the bathroom seems crazy - it made the room very uncomfortable whenver we showered. Also, our drain did not work and we had to have someone come and fix it AFTER we showered and realized it wasn't working. This makes me think that our shower was not cleaned because if it had then the maid would have noticed that the while cleaning it the water wasn't draining. Second, the only mirrors in the room are in the bathroom or the closet. It would be very helpful to have another mirror (possibly over the sink where they are in most hotel rooms) so while one person is showering in the un-ventilated bathroom the other person can get ready in front of that mirror. It's impossible to do your hair or apply makeup when all of the mirrors are steamed up. Third, the concierge was less than helpful. Whenever we called we were either put on hold for more than 5 minutes (we eventually hung up and never recieved a return call) or went straight to VM. We are former NYer's and were not calling to ask some impossible question - we were mearly trying to use the concierge for a few minor questions. We only got through once to them. In addition, our questions might have been answered if we were provided with some of the promotional NY magazines (that most hotels put right in the rooms). In addition, I asked the front desk if they had any of those freebie touristy pamphlets/magazine and she said she had no idea what I was talking about. Only on our way out that night did we see them on the back console of the Concierge desk. Would it have been that hard for those to be distributed by someone other than the concierge??? Expecially when they are so hard to get in touch with? On a positive note - the bed was great - loved the linens. Use this information how you will, we felt that we had to give you feedback though as we aren't sure we will be staying in your hotel again.
