Geneva On The Lake is in the heart of New York State's Finger Lake's Wine District. This beautifully romantic villa overlooking Seneca Lake was built between 1910 and 1914 and was modeled after the Italian Villa Lancellotti in Frascati. The Italian marble fireplaces and wood-coffered ceilings are just a few of the features that have been lovingly maintained throughout this time, and carefully incorporated into the elegant small resort that it is today. There is a romantic ambiance throughout, with each suite having its own unique decor furnished with Stickley, some with original fireplaces, each with a ready kitchen and ten having two-bedrooms. The setting itself makes this an ideal venue for a wedding or conference, and the restaurant is renowned, serving residents and non-residents alike. The Colonnade Pavilion is ideal for al fresco dining in the summer months, while the splended Lancellotti Dining Room is delightfully romantic, with live music from piano, vocalist or string ensemble. Guests may enjoy numerous activities on site, scenic drives through the picturesque countryside, visiting Geneva's historic district and Hobart & William Smith Colleges, shopping at nearby Waterloo Premium Outlets or a tour on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. Niagara Falls and Corning Museum of Glass make wonderful day trips.

5 reviews for Geneva on the Lake, Geneva
Beautiful Grounds, Overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/28/08
We stayed at Geneva on the Lake from 5/23/08 to 5/26/08. The check in process was smooth, friendly, and fast. The grounds are beautiful although many of the sculptures are in need of repair. The pool was being filled during our visit and not available, although it would not have been hot enough to use anyway. The fountain on the side of the building was also not running. I felt that given the temperatures the fountain and pool should have both been up and running for Memorial Day weekend. We stayed in the Landmark Suite. Nice enough room with a kitchen, 1 person jacuzzi tub, queen size bed and living room with a TV and DVD player. The room was clean, but personally I found the furniture to be uncomfortable. We went to breakfast the next morning to find out that only a continental breakfast was included. For those of you who are value oriented, you may agree that for $300+ a night a full breakfast should have been included. Breakfast quality was adequate at best. Service, ambiance, and location of this resort was fantastic, but I felt that the resort lacked that bang for the buck feeling or over the top greatness that would justify my return.

a touch of charm and class in wine country
By Katrina, 04/07/07
Not often do you find a resort with the ambiance that Geneva On The Lake brings to the suttle towns in it's area. We found all the employees were helpful, cheerful, and knowledgeable about the history of their hotel. The Italian architecture and formal gardens brought us back to romantic Italy. Our dining experience was excellent and left our palets most satisfied. My wife and I will always keep a special place in our heart for this amazing place. I often use these reviews before making plans and I can honestly say that Geneva On The Lake is one of if not the best small resort in the US.

unique experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/08/06
A group of us stayed recently in 3 2 room suites on the third floor(no elevators) and the amenities were very nice. We stayed for both dinner and Sunday brunch and the chef was outstanding. The first review posted here from 2005 seems to be written by the owners. The second review is correct with regard to the stained carpets, but the Stickley furniture and the fresh flowers allowed us to overlook the stained carpeting. The challenge is that their main dining room can only handle ~20-30 people, and even though we had reservations for dinner for 8 months, we were shuffled off to a private room without all of the ambience of the main dining room, and the 2 college aged waiters had to run back and forth outside with our food which made for a very long evening. The Sunday brunch was outstanding, and luckily we had seats in the main dining room, but others had to walk from other rooms, on the driveway to gain access to the Sunday buffet. Overall, a beautiful location, and probably the best facility in the area, and a great chef, but be aware of the limited dining facilities.

Disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/06
Facility is run down and not maintained. Dated spider webs in the hall ceilings and window treatments - stairs not vacuumed, suite carpet badly stained, rusted bathroom mirror & bathtub drain. Really, really over priced. Accommodation should be rated as a 1 (one) star.

A touch of paradise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/30/06
Like a transported Italian Spa Geneva on the Lake sits on the northern shore of Seneca Lake. The architecture is timeless and the views are breathtaking. Neither come close to how good the food is. Simply incredible food that almost melts in your mouth, subtle textures and flavorings make dining here an experience you will be talking about months later. The service is fantastic and this has to be the first hotel of this quality where I saw the owner helping clear table. I would rather save a whole year and go here once than dine somewhere else on a monthly basis. GOTL is sheer unadulterated luxury, there is nothing else like it in the area if you ever have the opportunity to stay or eat there take it - you won't regret it.
