Jeez, talk about cutting corners!

I was disappointed with this hotel. Whilst the patio and bar were first rate, with delicious dishes, friendly chefs and wonderful barstaff, comfortable seats, good music
and fire pits, the hotel attached was a constant let-down. BTW the hotel is not Art
Deco, but Googie architecture.
The free wi-fi was spotty at best. Half of the cable channels were down because of lack
of signal strength. The room was recently renovated, but you could quickly see that the quality of workmanship was poor. The sink faucets were loose. The plug in the sink wouldn't close, the shelves looked like they were salvaged from an old ship wreck. The toilet seat was loose, but that was okay because the toilet was positioned right up against the wall, so the most comfortable position was sitting side-saddle. There was plenty of space for the toilet in the newly renevated bathroom. It was just silly and thoroughly uncomfortable.
The towels were tiny and felt like sandpaper. All I could surmise was that the hotel
felt that if they provided a towel that didn't tear your flesh, people would steal it.
As for the complimentary breakfast, you can better from a Super8. There's a fantastic
deli up the road on Atlantic that I definately recommend.
Whilst the walk in shower looked thoroughly inviting, the shower faucet was on the
opposite side so you're forced to stand under the cold water when you first turn it on. The shower head wasn't properlay attached to the ceiling.
The riverstone floor, while alluring, can be very painful on tired or sensitive feet.
Also, the local taxi companies in Freeport are complete rip-offs. No meters, making up
fares, rude, filthy, smelly people. Manhatten fares were reasonable in comparison. One
cab turned up with a customer already in the car!
